This is an excellent 1981 Rabbit diesel with 4 speed manual transmission. The car runs, drives, and looks great. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere and it consistently gets well over 50mpg. At times I've gotten up to 60mpg with this car. The engine and transmission are strong and a/c and heat both work great. I bought it in September and have been fixing it up since. Since I've had it, the car has received: - Timing Belt - Timing Belt Tensioner - Water Pump - Radiator - Radiator Hoses - Thermostat - Alt & A/C Belts - oil pump - glow plugs (start right up every time in the cold) - injector crossover lines - rebuilt vaccum pump - battery - washer pump - windshield wipers - Tie Rod Ends - Ball Joints - Front Struts, strut mounts and strut bearings. - Clutch Cable - Full Set of Bridgestone Tires - Alignment - Dash lights - CD Player - CB - Paint Job - Rear Hatch Strut - New Fuel and Air filters and of course regular oil changes. All new parts are new and good German OE quality. Not the cheap box store stuff. There are a few minor cosmetic issues. The dash is cracked, but I've installed a dash topper which dresses it up well. Also the driver's seat has tears. The padding is still good and I've installed seat covers that look good covering it up. The only other thing is the right rear door handle doesn't work from the outside. It needs a new handle and I've priced these out at around $15 from online suppliers. Also not totally sure of the accuracy of the mileage. It shows 135k on the odometer currently and it showed 132k when I bought it, but the title shows exempt. Also included is a box of spare parts including spare belts, filters and various other pieces. I have well over $4000 invested in the car so my starting price is the lowest I'll take.
