Vehicle Detail
I am selling this amazing Toaster Tank for my father. He is a motorcycle lover, and it is with a heavy heart he has to part with this beautiful bike. Item description: Classic Vintage Collectable 1972 BMW “TOASTER TANK” UNRESTORED I have owned this bike for over 30 years. When I originally purchased the bike it had 41,000 miles on it. During the first 29 years I put only 1,200 miles on the bike. I retired in 2009 and used it a little more, putting on about 2,600 miles. The bike now has almost 44,000 miles. The bike had a total rebuild done in 2006 by a BMW dealer in New York. This is the real "Toaster Tank!" This Airhead runs strong and everything works. The bike has original paint. There is small dent in the tank. I also have a rear travel box and an original seat. It is time for me to pass this beauty on to a collector or a rider. You will not regret this purchase. The bike is 40 years old, so there is no warranty. As is, where is. Good Luck! 1972 model BMW R75/5. VIN number 2985539 manufacture date 11/71 numbers match on frame, data plate, and motor. This bike has 43,942 original miles. It has 2600 since total rebuild and includes its short wheel base under-seat toolbox (try to find one of those). Everything on the bike works as it should, all lights, electronic system, charging system, horn, etc. Bike runs excellent. A few things worth mentioning include; Total engine job in 2006 by authorized BMW DEALER. New Rims and Corbin Gunfighter Seat, New EPCO Pipes worth $4000.00, 2010 Carbs Synchronized and rebuilt for $1000, also in 2010 kick start new cover and rebuilt gears and seals for $1500. All were done by Hap’s BMW in Sarasota Florida. Other new parts include: tires (Michelin) Complete EPCO stainless exhaust system including headers, crossover tube, and mufflers fuel petcocks fuel filters plug wires plug wire end caps spark plugs battery hold down straps low "euro" bars steering dampener oil filter air filter all fluids new battery (maintenance free) positive battery cable negative battery cable starter relay voltage regulator headlight bulb Both my father and I are available to answer any questions you may have about this bike. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We would like to make this experience satisfying for those interested in this awesome motorcycle. Not only will we answer you via email, we are willing to address any questions or concerns over the phone as well. Feel free to give my dad a call if you have any questions or would like to see the bike, his cell number is 607-287-7132. Thank you so much for looking and good luck! On Feb-07-12 at 07:12:50 PST, seller added the following information: Just to clarify, the 2006 engine job, new rims, Corbin Gunfighter seat and new EPCO pipes cost $4000.00. Not just the EPCO pipes. Want to make sure this description is as accurate as possible. Thanks again for all the questions and for looking. On Feb-07-12 at 17:39:39 PST, seller added the following information: Please note that the tires are new as of the 2006 engine job. They are in great condition. All apologies if the above description lists the tires as brand new. There are 2 up close pictures of the tires included in the listing. Thanks again for all the questions and looks. We've had a great time communicating with all of you who have emailed, called or checked the listing! Thanks for the experience so far :) On Feb-09-12 at 10:21:02 PST, seller added the following information: As I am not by any means an expert on BMW motorcycles, I answered a question from an interested person using my general knowledge of motorcycles. I was incorrect in my terminology. This bike does indeed have an electric and kick start system, although it does not have a magneto. Those ceased in 1969. I have since spoken to my father who assures me that I "may have used the wrong term using magneto, but none the less it has a kick start and runs with dead battery, I've kick started for so many years." So, I greatly appologize for using an inncorrect term. Please rest assured I'm trying to be as accurate as possible with my descriptions. Thank you all so much for your looks and questions! This auction has been a great experience, for both learning and fun!On Feb-12-12 at 17:39:39 PST, seller added the following information: The reserve price of this auction has been lowered. Thanks again for all the interest and information. I've met a few pretty cool people while selling this bike. Thanks, again.
