Vehicle Detail
I purchased this Samurai used in 1990 so my 3 boys could drive to school. It was passed down from older to younger over a 10 year time then I unregistered it and stored it under wraps in my back yard. They did burn up the clutch at around 30K and I replaced it. A year ago I needed a car to commute to work so I put the Suzuki back on the road. At that time it had 49K miles and I put on new brakes , tires , battery , catalytic converter and muffler. It reliably got me back and forth for a 50 mile round trip commute and got a consistent 25MPG. There is no problem maintaining a 55mph speed. It tops out at about 70 mph but it's really not geared to go that fast. The front end is surprisingly tight with no shakes, shimmies, drifting or pulling. I got to work during the worst snow storms using the 4wd and never a problem parking because of it's small size. It has an assortment of nicks, dings, and small dents that I touched up or covered with some aluminum diamond plate and does look presentable. There was some rust under the doors where the the rubber strips along the side used to be. I removed the strips, ground off what rust I could, treated with rust inhibitor and covered it with some diamond plate. The floor area in the front foot wells also started to rust so I bolted in some aluminum plates, could of done a better job but it works. The top was replaced years ago with a 2 piece Best-Top and does not leak but has a taped up crack in the back window. Someone banged into the rear and jammed the rear swing door into a locked position. The rear spare tire took the brunt of the hit but it was enough to jam the lock. On cold mornings it has to be cranked over a few times but always starts, I think the problem is the automatic choke. I'm used to it and keep pumping the gas and in less then a minute it warms enough to keep from stalling. There are no oil or radiator leaks and all the lights work along with the wipers and heater( no A/C). It had no problem passing its last inspection. The only thing that doesn't work is the cigarette lighter(probably a broken wire or fuse) and it seems to pop out of the 4wd low range. I think the problem is just the shifter, low range works and no problem at all with hi range 4wd. The interior is a bit worn and could use some TLC. For a vehicle that is 24 yrs old I think its in good shape and with only 56K miles it has plenty of miles left in it . Any questions just ask.
