Vehicle Detail
Classic 1965 MG MGB This restored 1965 MGB features a rebuilt 1.8L engine (18GB-RU-H 62861, 5 main bearing) with a Weber 32/36 DVG two barrel downdraft carburetor, a four speed manual transmission with overdrive, and rare pull-out exterior door handles, which were discontinued in April 1965. Purchased from the previous owner in 2005, this car has been gently driven 2500 miles. Additional features include a black canvas top, black canvas tonneau cover, black carpet floor with black rubber MG logo floor mats, a classic Moto Lita wood-rim steering wheel, covered spare with MG logo, and a tan cloth car cover. On Feb-08-12 at 21:39:09 PST, seller added the following information: 02/08/2012 Update: I have added several pictures of the underside of the vehicle and provide some additional information based on frequently asked questions: I purchased the car on eBay in 2005; the seller was in Texas. I don't have any other information about the car's history prior to purchase -- the seller indicated that it had been restored but did not indicate when it was done. I believe that the work was done by 5R Restoration in Brookshire, Texas. The car has been driven only on dry days and is stored in a heated garage. Going over the car with a magnet suggests small areas of body work on the passenger side - basically at the rear portion of the front quarter panel and at the front of the rear quarter panel. There are some minor cosmetic scratches and cracks in the paint. There is no visible evidence of problematic rust on the sills; there is superficial rust at the front jack points where the outer sill, membrane, and castle rail meet and the paint has chipped away -- the metal is solid. Black is not the original color; the body appears to have been pale primrose. The paper work on the car that I have relates only to the period of time that I have owned it. The car has a title and is registered as a collector vehicle in Washington State. Currently, the car is running well -- starts readily for a car of this age and make. The starter motor occasionally fails to engage. Electrically, it is sound; the map light is the only thing that doesn't work. The fuel gauge is inaccurate. The rubber seal between the hood and the front windshield is old and is not watertight. Shortly after I purchased the car, the following work was done: We replaced the oil pan gasket, differential pinion seal, replaced the driveline and installed with new u-joints. We also replaced the rear spring brackets, u-bolts, and rubber pads. I also replaced one of the wiper arms and blade. The only other repair was replacement of the pulley on the generator.
