This auction is for a 1939 Chevrolet Half Ton Shortbox Pickup project. It belongs to a good friend of mine who asked me if I would list it for him. I will give you the information that I recieved from him and also how I see the vehicle myself. This truck was purchased by a mutual friend of ours who had a passion for fixing and building vintage vehicles. He recently passed away and my friend bought this from his estate. The current owner had intentions of doing it up for his antique business but found a woody wagon that would be more suitable for his needs. So he is going to part with the truck. The information I have recieved from him is as follows. Prior owner purchased the truck in 2003 from a gentleman in Kansas City MO. According to that gentleman it was his dads truck since new. Was used as a telephone service truck. Jim purchased the truck in 03 and had it shipped to Mass. He took the truck apart to start a complete restoration. The frame was cleaned and painted, new bushings installed, looks like all new brakes, lines, master cylinder, exhaust system. I was told that he went through the motor top to bottom. It is a 216, 6 Cyl with 4 Speed Manual Trans. There is a new wiring harness that will be included but is not installed yet. There are 2 wires to touch together, hit the starter button and it fires right up. Motor runs real nice but has the typical 216 Babbeted Bearing sound. I was told they all sound like this but I am not that familliar with this type of motor. Truck goes into gear fine. When I brought the truck to my garage some of the parts were still removed. I lightly bolted the headlights, grill, dash, tail gate, wind shield, etc. into place for shipping. Did not line up everything perfectly. Of course the truck will need to come apart to be done up anyway. The cab appears to be in exceptional shape. Doors open and close nicely. Box is in real decent shape. The front fenders do have some filler around the wheel edges probably from splits but very fixable. The lines on this truck are good and the sheet metal is in real nice shape. We have a lot of extra parts that come with the truck. It appears to be 98% complete. You could go either way with this truck, original or street rod. You dont see too many of these in above average condition. We have a clear title for a smooth transaction. We are listing this vehicle at no reserve so bid to win but be serious in your bidding.
