Vehicle Detail

1991 Porsche 911, Carrera 2. If you are looking for a good entry level 911 that you can drive and enjoy while you work on it this it. If you are looking for a show car then this is not the one for you. I have owned and restored numerous muscle cars over the years and bought this one as a complete break from the norm. As such I am not a Porsche expert. I will describe the car below to the best of my abilities. Good: 65k car, engine was completely rebuilt by Porsche dealer in Memphis, Tn with 35k miles on it, have receipts of all of the work done. Since I have owned it Reid Vann a local Porsche shop serviced the car for me. Performing a compression check which was good, replaced the shifter cable, changed spark plugs and changed the oil. Additionally, I replaced the front seats - which were dried and cracked beyond repair with some from LA dismantlers (however they are slightly darker grey than the rest of interior) I have found a complete interior for $750 that will match them and can provide that contact. All of the gauges work including the clock, aftermarket radio (iPod interface in car), Cruise control works, AC has been converted to 134 and blows cold. I have replaced the front brakes and pads and have the rear here but found it takes a special tool to get the rear calipers off - so they will either be fixed or come with the car. But the car starts and stops as is great - I just decided to do a full replacement. The best news is the car drives and corners like it should and runs down the interstate solid and straight. Car has good tires on it. Bad: The car was in accident a number of years ago (passenger side rear quarter panel) the repair was average at best (they apparently cut part of the rear quarter out and replaced it. The weld seam along the door is pretty to look at and the weld seams on the quarter panel are showing through the paint. The driver side rear and center section bumper has been hit and I do not think it can be repaired (I have a center and left section that I purchased that I will sell separately to the purchaser of the car if they desire) The interior is light grey and the carpet has seen its better days - pile is still there and a good steam cleaning would do wonders but I have not done so yet. The headliner is shot. The driver side and passenger side windows both have deep scratches and will need to be replaced at some point. The rear window has a scratch on it as well. Does not bother me but in the interest of full disclosure thought I would pass it along. Dash looks good no cracks, center AC vent wants to fall down a little - double sided tape would fix temporary, center shifter leather is gone. Speedometer glass is a little hazy but works fine. Rims are fine - some road rash but need to be refinished. The heater blows cold air. As I said above AC works great. I think that is all I can come up with from my list. Overall, as I said in the beginning car is fun to drive and despite my description I always get compliments on it - so the car is not embarrassing at any stretch. Simply a fun car, fun to drive. I have found another Corvette so time to go back to what I do best. I will try to answer any questions - but again I am not an expert. 314 409 8365. I encourage local people to come lookOn Jan-29-12 at 13:19:35 PST, seller added the following information: Somehow I managed to forget to post about the trip tronic transmission. I will explain best I can - when in drive or left side the car runs and shifts out fine. In fact if you shift all the way down to 1 low on the left the transmission engages without any issues. If you shift into triptronic mode it automatically starts in second - which I am told all German cars start in 2 to save on fuel. However if you shift into 1 the car essentially acts as if it is neutral. Triptronic 2 - 4 works great shifting up by hand and automatic down shift to 2. I have been on Pelican parts forum and Rennlist and nobody appears to have had this problem. I had the codes checked by Reid Vann when it was in the shop and they checked the fluid. They found nothing. I have had several opinions - one is brain driving the triptronic is bad - (seems to make sense as it works in one down the left side) - however no codes show fault, others have thought that it has developed a memory and should be reset - apparently there is a 500 page book on triptronic. I know remanufactured one is around 1,500. All this said the car runs great and it does not impact my driving since I am not racing it nor am I trying to drag race someone. But hopefully you can tell I do not want anybody to be surprised. On Jan-30-12 at 13:01:58 PST, seller added the following information: I reserve the right to end auction early as it is available for sale locallyOn Feb-03-12 at 06:51:53 PST, seller added the following information: I have had several questions as to what is the buy it now price for sale locally. I have a 10,000 offer locally but have stated that I will let the auction run. So answer to question is something greater than $10k
