Vehicle Detail

For sale, a 1977 VW Westfalia Camper. 2.0 Liter engine with Dual Carburators. I bought this in the late 1990's and used it for about 6 years. It went into storage in late 2004, and has not been started or driven since. This is a project, not an immediately drivable vehicle. When I bought it, it had 77,000 miles on it. Before I ever put it on the road, I had a new engine installed and all mechanics brought up to spec. I probably put about $5,000 into it. I put it in the garage with 95,000 miles on it. So the current engine only has 18,000 miles on it. I have not started it in 8 years. It has been stored inside the entire time. Things I replaced include: Battery and harness, fuel pump, front floor mat, all tires. I'm sure there were other things along the way, but I do not remember. This Westy also has a built in A/C unit, but I never had it set up because I was told the pull on the engine was really high when it is running, so I didn't want to worry about it since I had just put in a new engine. The body, though it has some surface issues, is in very solid condition, with no big holes or rusting areas. The undercarriage is solid. Interior is in good structural condition, but it needs some restoration. No parts are missing. What it has: Sink with pump and reservoir, cooler on side of bed, no fridge. no Salamander, no propane or stove built in. Original curtains for all windows included . Pop-up top is in solid condition and works, and the screens are in good condition. There are a couple of tiny tears in the original canvas tent. All seat cushions and mattresses (upper and lower) are in solid condition. I do not think the front seats are original, but they are good, all other cushions are original. Electrical hookup on side is working. I also installed an alpine cassette/CD system, and ran a subwoofer to the back. The speakers I installed are removable and on long cords so you can pull them out and put them on the roof or ground for an outdoor setup. I had a lot of fun in this car, and enjoyed camping in it often. It was a solid vehicle, and I kept it up well. However, it has now been sitting for awhile, and will need a make-over. Given the right TLC, it can be brought to excellent condition. Happy on answer any questions, will also email more pictures upon request. This vehicle is 2 hours north of New York City. Happy to work with your shipper to get it picked up.
