1981 VW Rabbit Diesel Caddy Truck Pickup for sale. In great shape. Here is what I have done, or previous owner has done. I bought it from a body shop so know that the body is in great shape. The paint is primer, with guide coat. Little black specks that show you high and low spots when you are sanding. All the exterior needs is sanded and painted and you are done. The front end is custom, I believe off a cabriolet but not sure. The round headlights and horizontal grill look sweet. Custom bumper and fenders as well. The sides have Karman rebadging done. The rear tailgate is a pull off another truck, but it is in a lot better shape than the previous tailgate. Lowered 1". Has sporty suspension, great for cornering. Rear bumper shaved. Bed liner in bed, bed has waves in it from something heavy, but no rust or anything. I have added new battery, new terminals, new glow plugs, new injectors, new front rotors and pads on brakes, and new back shoes on brakes. Custom wheels, great directional tread tires. Interior needs work., but isn't too bad. Dash board shows some wear, and has a few cracks. I put carpet cover on it so it looked good. Has bucket seats, new just before I bought the truck. Racing steering wheel, air horn. Comes with Sony deck, Sony 4 way 5x7" speakers in doors, and 3" 2 way speakers in dash. This truck gets amazing mileage, anywhere between 45-48 mpg, with a 22 gallon + tank, it can easily drive 1,000 miles per tank. It has driven on a couple road trips to Canada, and does great. You can't touch the fuel mileage, and driving from Salt Lake City all the way to Canada on one tank of gas sure is nice. Vehicle is in good condition. Exterior is fantastic, interior shows some wear. Mechanically it is fantastic. Overall this is a great truck and with a little effort could be a great show truck. This vehicle is 31 years old so please have reasonable expectations for mileage, ect. *Ebay check is showing Title issue. I looked further into it through ebay service and the only box checked is odometer issue. There are no issues to my knowledge with odometer, maybe it is upset that it's over 200k miles? Odometer works fine. Speedometer is slightly off because of aftermarket wheels and tires being a little smaller than stock. Sale is "As Is". Buyers are welcome to test drive before bidding. There is one wire that is extra in the fuse panel. I am not sure what it is for, I just know it is not factory. The shift light doesn't work, but this is usually something that has stopped working on these cars. I have owned 4 rabbits and none of the shift indicators worked. I'm sure it can be fixed, but it is absolutely not necessary. ***Someone asked if I would drive it across the country, and the answer is yes. This thing runs like a dream. It is not a perfect vehicle, but it is honestly a great running vehicle and in great shape. The seats lack padding, and would be the only thing holding me personally back from doing another long road trip in the truck. Just for comfort's sake. ***All headlights, turn signals, brake lights, liscense plate lights, dash lights, and emergency lights work perfect.
