Looks Good, Roomy Interior, Power Everything, Inexpensive. Up for auction or straight sale is my 1998 Dodge Avenger. This car has a really strong engine for its mileage and year. It starts right up and heats up fast. Most miles, from 95k to 159k have been all country highway miles. I moved to the city about a year ago, so it does have some city miles now. It runs, drives, and otherwise gets you from place to place comfortably. I have a binder full of mechanical fixes and regular maintenance dating back to 2006-2007. In August of 2011, it got a new battery and a crankshaft sensor. In april of 2010 I had the struts, j hooks, sway bar and shocks replaced on both sides. I also put in all new spark plugs and wires, and a distributor cap that year, although I do not have a record of the receipts. In 2008 I had the Tie rods, ball joints, control arms, and 2 new tires put on. Since then Ive had 2 additional tires mounted and regular oil changes done. Upkeep has been done regularly and I have receipts for most work done. There are some things that need to be done, and that is the reason for the sale. Since I live in the city, I dont really need a car (it costs to park anywhere and everywhere) and I would like to take the money from this sale and invest it into something else. I will take transportation and share a care with my fiance. CONDITION: FAIRThis rating is based on an appraisal I had done in Jan. 2012 at a dealership. This means it has some minor mechanical issues and some cosmetic issues as well. Here are some known mechanical issues: Needs new Tie Rods and Control Arms Passenger side door doesnt lock completely (There is a piece of glass blocking the door latch from locking completely. It was shattered at one point when my car was broken into last year. The window was replaced.) The Power side mirrors move left to right well. They do not move up and down very well. Sometimes you just reach out and manually adjust. It has an oil leak. This has never caused me problems, but I do know it exists because I see oil on the oil pan when Im underneath the car. Engine stutter. The alternator belt may need to be checked for cracks and slipping. The engine doesnt stutter hard, or very often. But it should be investigated. The A/C does not work. Heat only. The issue is a blower wall that has been disconnected from its control arm. The dash has to be removed to reattach the arm. Cosmetic issues: Exterior - The passenger side front fender has a large dent. It does not affect the performance of the car at all, but it has been damaged from a hit and run accident while my car was parked along the street. The passenger door has a 50 cent piece sized door ding from a rock that was thrown at it. When the window was smashed, the theif must have missed his mark the first time. There is a 2-3inch crack in the passenger side rear lamp cover. They are black and it is hardly noticeable. The spoiler has been damaged from the sun, and the paint is worn. Interior - The front carpets have some stains. I had them cleaned but the stains are still a bit visible as you can see in the pictures. New mats should do the job just fine. The rear carpets have some minor stains as well. The passenger side dash board/airbag cover has 2 small tears. The sunroof cover ceiling cloth has begun to fall down. I have used pray glue to put it back up but it needs to be done again. CONCLUSION: This car is priced to sell. The Blue Book is about $1790.00 as of Jan. 2012 for a FAIR 1998 Dodge Avenger. Im not asking for any more than the experts say its worth. If you are a first time car buyer, student, or have limited income right now and need a great city commuter or around town car this is the car for you. If you have some mechanical ability this would be a super buy for you. It has been up kept responsibly and diligently over the years that I have owned it and even before.
