Vehicle Overview The A4 was redesigned for the 2009 model year, returning in sedan and wagon (called Avant) body styles with new styling and a fresh interior design. Audi also offers a performance version of the sedan as the S4, covered in a separate report in the Research section. The A4 faces competition from the BMW 3 Series, Cadillac CTS, Infiniti G37 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. New for 2011 An eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission with manual shift control replaces the six-speed automatic on the A4. Audi also shuffled content for the Prestige trim level. Exterior The A4s styling bears a family resemblance to the larger A6. The sedan has a small spoiler integrated into the trunklid, and two circular exhaust outlets poke out from below the rear bumper. Exterior features include: Interior Like some other Audi models, the A4 has adopted the German automakers Multi Media Interface. MMI is a knob-based control system that shares similarities with BMWs iDrive and Mercedes-Benzs Comand system. It can control things like the navigation system, audio system and vehicle settings. In the A4 and other Audis, a knob and buttons on the center console are used to navigate menus and make selections that appear on a dashboard screen. The navigation system now includes HD radio.
