Vehicle Detail
I have relisted this car and dropped the starting bid and buy it now from my original listing by $2,000. This is a very nice Carrera 3.2 coupe finished in Grand Prix white combined with a striking red interior with white piping on the leather factory sport seas. For maintenance records, I have a small history file going back four plus years plus some dealer service stampings in the maintenance and warranty manual. While I don’t have maintenance records in between, the condition of the original interior alone attests that the car appears to have always been well cared for. Another positive is a clean Carfax report which indicates there was no prior collision damage or other adverse information. The interior including seats, carpets, headliner and dash are all in very good shape. I’ve had many comments on the interior with regard to the red sports seats with white piping being unusual and not a standard option. The factory build sheet does confirm the sport seat option and on interior lists it as “Leather Interior to Sample” so it does appear this interior combination was a special order. The car was repainted at some point in its original grand prix white. The repaint occurred prior to my or the previous owner’s tenure so must be at least five or six years old. The repaint was quite well done. The finish is smooth and uniform with no “orange peel”. I cannot detect any masking lines or overspray on what was obviously a very professionally applied paint job. The engine compartment and front trunk are both clean. Oil leaks are pretty common in older 911s but this car is very good in that regard. I won’t say you can’t find an inch wide little spot after it sets a couple weeks but as most go, this one is quite good in terms of being dry underneath. The exhaust and heat exchangers also look to be in good shape. The tires are Kumho 205/55-16 front and Kumho 225/50-16 rear in with what looks to be 85% to 90% tread remaining The A/C works and has been converted to R-134a. The car has an older but fairly high end Alpine stereo with recently installed new Alpine speakers. The battery has been replaced within the last year. The car runs within the normal temperature range even on hot days and holds good oil pressure. Due to my history file only going back four and a half years, I can’t confirm if the car has had a clutch replacement. However, the clutch disengages smoothly and there is no slippage so with the car at 123k miles, I believe it is more likely than not the car has had a clutch at some point. As far as any problems, the cruise control is not working and there is a slight bit of wind noise from the sunroof seal. Finally, the car drives out very well. It tracks and handles nicely and the engine pulls strongly through the upper RPM range. The G50 transmission shifts very easily and smoothly and synchromesh is good in all gears.
