Vehicle Detail

Listed here is a 1970 El Camino project car. I purchased this car/truck about a year ago with the hope of restoring it. It starts and runs good, the transmission shifts well. I have only driven it across town to my garage so I don't know alot about the overall condition. The brakes and master cylinder were replaced but not bled. IT does have fluid but need to be completed. It is not safe to drive because of this. The winning bidder must assume that it will need to be trailered home. It has a good running 350, 2bbl engine and TH 350 transmission. The overall body is in really good condition. There are a couple of rust spots in the usual areas, but should be a rather easy restoration for someone. The floor pan on the driver side has one small hole, the passenger side it solid. The frame appears to be in good condition as well. The bed is surprisingly not beat up at all. It looks as if someone may have fixed a few rust holes but it does come with 2 new bed panels and 1 used bolt in forward bed panel. There is one other rust spot above the windshield on the passenger side about the size of a 25 cent piece. I have not done anything to this car except for replacing the rear springs with brand new ones. The old ones were sagging badly. As you can see buy the pictures it comes with a ton of items to finish the project. I cant possibly list it all and nor did I photograph it all. It is enough to completely fill the back of the truck. Many of the items are doubles and triples of the same thing. You can pick the best of the items and sell the rest. Some of these items including the door weatherstripping are new. With all the new/used parts, this project wouldn't need much more. Doors and tailgate open and close great, no jiggling or the famous GM door drop when you open it. As you can see it has a origional steel cowl hood, not cowl induction. It also comes with a SS dash cluster and bezel. Z-28 steel 15" wheels and the tires have 60% tread but appear to be farily old and one has a slow leak The previous owner primed the car, I didn't do it. He primed over a lot of the bed chrome but with a little elbow grease i think it'll clean up, but here is probably a whole other set included in this pile of chrome as well. Except for a few spots it looks like it could be ready for paint relativity quickly, that's why I bought it. I simply have too many projects and can't seem to focus on one like I should. It's time to get rid of some (even though I don't want to) so I can invest my time and effort to get one finished. I am an owner of a Hot Rod / Restoration shop in Wapello IA. If you would like some help with this project I would be happy to talk to you after the auction is up. If you would like to see some of our past work look us up at midwestrod.com. I'm in the business of restoring cars and know what to look for, This is one of the better ones I've found and that's why i bought it. This will be a no reserve auction and will sell to the highest bidder. If you have seen what the cars/truck go for finished, this one would be a good investment. Clone it into an SS and drive the wheels off it and don't feel guilty about beating on a True SS car. Or modify it to your own taste. $500.00 is due within 24 hours after auction and balance due prior to pick up. Buyer is responsible to pick up this project car at my location or arrange for your own transportation. I an flexible on pick up times just contact me first. Thanks for looking! On Jan-26-12 at 10:14:08 PST, seller added the following information: I've had a lot of questions about the condition of the body. I thought that i had given enough information but perhaps not. As anyone who has restored a vehicle before knows, you really don't know the condition until all the paint/primer is removed. Without doing that, at this point it looks as if there will be some rust repair needed, but only patches. Full quarter, fender, door or hood replacement should not be needed. If you have been around a GM bodied car of this era you know what normally is bad. This one is a lot better than most. This observation is not from someone selling a car but from a professional restoration shop owner. This is not your typical road ditch queen and for this area in Iowa it has better bones that car half it's age. If you have second thoughts or haven't gotten the wifes ok I would encourage you not to bid. Projects take time, effort, money and a decent place to work on them. No, this isn't read for paint, nor is is road ready. If you want a nice 70 El Camino to rebuild/restore and have the means and ability, then this is your car.On Jan-26-12 at 13:22:02 PST, seller added the following information: OK, here is some more info. The mileage listed is what is on the odometer now....It also comes with another sweep dash cluster as well as the SS cluster. I have now way of knowing if it's the origional mileage or not, or if the dash cluster has been changed or not. Assume it's not the origional mileage and we'll all be happy. And to the guy that asked about the finish on the car.....yes, it needs painted....no it will not "buff out".On Jan-28-12 at 06:13:19 PST, seller added the following information: Posted some more pictures of the passenger side as requested.
