Vehicle Detail
Car went through a complete restoration long before I bought it, guessing about 20 years ago. It has always been kept inside. It is a 1917 Ford but the engine came from a 1918 at some point in the past based on the numbers. The car was upgraded to electric start which was not an option until the next year. Overall it is in great shape but is not a show car. I will try to be as accurate as I can on what I think is good and bad. Look closely at photos please. This is a 95 year old car! It does start right up if you don't let her sit for longer than a few weeks. After that you may have to turn it over for awhile to get the fuel back to all the right places. It takes right off and goes faster than my wife feels comfortable at in a car without any safety devices. I am guessing it will easily cruise over 40 but I normally chicken out and hang in the 35 range. This is not like driving any other car that I have owned, it is not what I call "normal" so if you have never driven a Model T you may want to ask someone or call me to talk about it. It's not hard but not what you are used to. Interior: Photos tell most of the story. It is an older restoration but the car looks really good inside. The rubber matt flooring is like new and the woodwork is in great shape. There are things here and there that can use a little work but overall very nice. There are no tears in the seats, there is some overspray on the edges of the seats when you get close up from before I got the car. A plexiglass shield was added to help with the wind in the drivers face but I normally just fold it down. There is brass nameplate under the bucket seats, see photo, not sure when it was added or why. Small dent in outer area of drivers bucket seat. Mechanicals: This car does run wonderful. The leather belt is in great shape and turns the optional water pump as it should. The hoses are in good condition, and the car will come with a brand new set of hoses that I had ordered already. The motor looks be all original, in fact seems that it has not been cracked open for work in forever if at all. It shifts and drives both in forward and reverse as it should. The brakes are the weak spot, they work and are all there but not likely to set any braking records and could probably use some adjustment. The rear end seems fine and all four tires are in good shape. They are dirty but Good Years with lots of tread and should last a long while. I have replaced a couple of tubes in the time I have owned it and would advise you to keep a couple on the shelf, they may last forever or a year, have not figured that out yet. The light wires were not hooked up when I bought the car and I have never tried to connect them. The wires are all there though. The one bad mechanical thing is that the magneto does not work. So the battery does not charge. The ONLY thing that the battery does is run the starter currently so has not been an issue. I charge the battery every few weeks and have not had any problems at all. The battery is new. And if you do manage to run it out good news!!! The crank works. Body Exterior: Whoever did the restoration years ago did some very nice work in some areas and some that has not held up well. The fenders are all in pretty nice shape. There is some cracking in the paint and a couple of small areas that you may want to have repaired where the paint is gone or scratched, these are few and very minor really. The yellow items, gas tank, hood, seats were repainted more recently and are bright and in good shape. There may be a chip here and there but really the yellow looks great. The frame was painted yellow long ago but it seems not primed correctly so the paint is cracking and peeling on the frame and springs. I forgot to hang the horn on after having my teenager polish it up a bit, it's shown in a later photo but does come with the car. Misc: I have a few extras that go with the car. Repair manual, two extra metal wheel rims, a rack that can store a spare tire if you go cross country for some reason. I have the remains of a top that came with the car but it is pretty old and broken down, yours if you wish. Great car if you live in a small town or in an area where you don't need to do a million miles an hour. Looks fantastic in parades or at shows if that is what you prefer. Starts right up and runs great so you can leave it as it sits or put some work into it if you choose. I have the signed title from previous owner which will come with the car and a bill of sale from me. I think the title was signed incorrectly so I feel safer saying no title, but will include what I have. If you have any questions just ask. If you live nearby please come by and we can kick the tires or maybe go on an E Ticket ride. Thanks for looking. On Jan-29-12 at 12:15:37 PST, seller added the following information: It seems the title that has become the focus of about 10 peoples questions so I will add a bit more. I have added a photo of the title so you can see what you get. The VIN number does match the engine block. I have no idea of the ease or pain for you to register the vehicle where you live. I was just going to pay the $200 bucks here to register it with no title and get a complete new one. Since I trailered it everywhere there was never a need. It may be NO issue but I just wanted to sell it with no title so that no one would run into any undisclosed issues. I hope that this helps a little.
