Vehicle Detail

For Sale 2004 BMW RT1150RTP (police) Motorcycle! Most "police" bikes out there, be it a BMW, Harley Davidson, Honda, Moto Guzzi, etc., are pretty much beat up by the time they are released to the 'civilian' market. This bike is the exception and in many ways is far more superior to the civilian BMW R1150RT. Read on . . . This RT1150RTP has only 26,500 easy miles on it driven by "old guys"! That many miles might be a lot for some other makes of bikes, but a BMW is more comparable to a car when it comes to longevity. Garage kept! Never mistreated! No wheelies! No standing on the front wheel kind of bike! SEE 2 different action videos of this bike on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsM2nj5bLh8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix8wh0frLGU&feature=related I put 11,500 miles on it over 3 years. This is an excellent 4 season commuter. Ask me how I know this! She was originally owned by a desk Lieutenant with the CHP. He was not on patrol. He put only 10K on it in first 2 years. When he retired, it was awarded to him in his retirement package. His wife said - NO WAY! She wanted a Mercedes. So he traded it in to the car dealer and he got the little woman her car. The Mercedes dealer called the BMW cycle shop owner and said come get this thing - which he did. He used it 1 year and then sold it to me. I bought it from 2nd owner (BMW dealer's personal ride) who put 5K on it. This is a great bike! I am selling because of personal reasons only - not because of the bike. She has had regular maintenance before and after I got her. Since I've had her, I replaced fluids @ 5K mi intervals even though the manual reads to replace at 12K mile intervals. New alternator belt and new Metzeler rear tire @ 24K mi. At the 25K mileage, once again, it had all fluids replaced with BMW filters & the BMW crush washers! I have maintenance log. EXTRAS which I added for safety and comfort: · High pitched sound devices to prevent animals from entering your right of way.· PIAA spot/cruise/passing lights mounted above fairing mirrors.· Fog lamps mounted onto front crash bars.· Rear lights as can be seen in "You Tube" link above.· Reflective decals as seen in "You Tube" link (almost unnoticeable in day light).· Dual batteries, 1 under tank/seat, other in radio box left front fairing.· Passenger foot pegs, if you use rear pillion seat, or for driver to be able to change positions on those longer trips.· Converted rear police radio box to accept a modified rear passenger seat (which comes with the bike).· Replaced standard windshield with a "Cee Bailey" which is wider & taller than standard (small scratch from 'lean-over in garage).· Replaced BMW "City Case" saddle bags with bigger touring size lids.· "Thrush" fiberglass performance muffler (OEM original exhaust system comes with the bike also).· New Metzeler tires, front has 50 miles on it, rear about 2,000 mi. (expect another 10,000+ on rear & 12,000 on front)· Replaced the front & rear directionals from BMW's single element to dual element sockets & 1157 bulbs so now there are running lights on front directionals and tail lights on rear directionals. (BMW uses single element bulbs on front with reduced voltage/wattage which were too dim for my riding safety needs.) I painted the rear amber blinker lens red to be 'legal' on the streets and ended up with 3 tail lights where the standard BMW only had 1. Then I added 4 more LED sets of lights for tail and blinkers, which are mounted to the rear crash bar.· "Kisan" directional flasher upgrade which features adjustable cancel time and speed of flasher.· Has "Throttlemeister" throttle/cruise control.· Six rear view mirrors - 2 are original to see directly behind (1 glass was replaced), 2 added to handle bar to see adjacent lanes, 2 small convex to see any vehicle at 90 degree angle.· Rear directional indicators added to mirrors.· Replaced standard seat with BMW "Comfort Seat".· Driver back rest from 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 passenger back rest (VERY comfortable!)· Cruiser pegs onto front crash bars.· Three BMW ignition keys which are all coded to the 3 luggage locks. The BMW R1150RT-P (P for Police) is based on the R1150RT “civilian” model, but is equipped with features that tailor it for official use: · Solo seat only with a radio top box replacing the passenger seat.· 840 watt alternator instead of civilian 700 watt alternator.· Rear drive gear ratio of 31:11 (civilian R1100/1150RT has 32:11 ratio but R1100/1150RS has 31:11 ratio).· Auxiliary oil cooling fan for when engine is kept running when the motorcycle is stationary.· Front and rear protection (“crash”) bars.· A special speedometer accurate to +/- 1 MPH.· Two 12 volt accessory outlets (the civilian outlet R1150RT comes with only one).· Headlight on / off switch (cannot turn lights off on 'civilian' bike) - saves battery life much longer (Jan 2012 just threw away original BMW battery - 8 years old!).· Separate on/off switches for fog lamps, high/low beams, parking, emergency & high beam passing.· Side amber running lights.· Heated Handgrips - 2 heat settings.· Fog lights built into fairing. · Code 3 LED 2nd Brake Light.· ID Lights.· BMW ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE windshield is standard (replaced with “Cee Bailey”).· Locking side stand.· Center stand.· True image rear view mirrors. (Added handle bar mirrors)· BMW lockable easy dismount saddle bags (see videos for demonstration).· Dual high decibel horns (sound like air horns!).· Adjustable brake & clutch levers.· Hydraulic clutch operation, not cable - less hand/arm fatigue especially in traffic jams!· It is powered by BMW's modern two cylinder, four stroke Boxer engine and dual spark plugs per cylinder which prevent pre-ignition and surging like pre-2004 models and delivers 95 horsepower at 7,250 rpm.· Anti lock braking system (ABS) that operates independently on both front and rear wheels (important in rapid braking situations - ask me how I know this!). 2002—2004 BMW R1150RT-P Police Motorcycles PDF Police Brochure: http://bmw.brownmotorworks.net/brochure/r1150rtp_brochure.pdf Now, if you have read this far you are probably serious about possibly owning this bike, so let’s talk.
