DESCRIPTION:

Mercedes makes some unbelieveable cars. Most vehicles that are nearly 20 years old and have nearly 250K miles would be in a junkyard somewhere or at the very least be unsafe to drive. However, our 1992 Mercedes 300D 2.5 Turbo is in very good condition in every respect considering the age and mileage on this car!

This Benz runs and drives great! The 2.5L, L5 turbo-diesel engine fires right up and runs smoothly. The acceleration is brisk and the automatic transmission shifts are pretty smooth. Mechanically, this car has been excellently maintained it's entire life...mostly by our Mercedes specialist dealership. Most every mechanical item is in very good condition and this car is completely road worthy. The only problems mechanically speaking are some normal oil seepage from the valve cover, a bad A/C evaporator and what we suspect is a faulty seat belt (causing an SRS fault code). The seat belt code has shown up in the past when the SRS light was on, but we have not replaced the seatbelt and have not pulled the fault code this time. Therefore, we are assuming the SRS light is on again due to the seat belt. The seats themselves are still very comfortable and all the power adjustments work as they should. The ride is smooth, luxurious and quiet for a diesel. The car still feels sure-footed and solid with no noticeable squeaks, rattles or other offensive noises.

This is a non-smokers, non-pet carrier automobile and there are no foul odors inside. All the electrical features inside work properly including the power windows, power seats, power mirror, sunroof, stereo, etc. The interior needs a good detailing to look really good, but it already looks decent with no rips or tears in the seats, carpet or dash. The wood trim around the shifter has some cracks in it, but the rest looks great. The center armrest has two cuts in the piping, but the covering itself is fine. The carpet has a few stains, but should clean-up fine. The door panels look good (the driver's has some small cuts on the rear edge), the headliner is intact and not sagging (although it needs some cleaning) and the interior in this 300D is nice overall. With some good detailing the interior will look great!

Outside, the body is straight with only a couple tiny dings. There is no rust that we could find on the body, floorboards or the frame. This car is solid! The paint is a little weak all over with some panels kind of dull looking due to some paint fade and/or clear coat deterioration (stress lines in the clear coat). There are numerous tiny (pen point size)to medium (eraser head) sized chips and scratches here and there, but nothing major anywhere. The grille has a dent in it up top, but still looks good. The glass headlight/foglight fixtures on each side of the grille have the normal stress cracks in them. The lense on the left has one small hole in it under the headlight itself. The alloy wheels look good all around, although they do have some scratches and some brake dust discoloration in spots. Overall, the exterior looks good (especially for it's age and originality) and really doesn't need to be repainted to enjoy this car for it's real value, which is it's classic design, excellent fuel economy, and proven longevity.

This Benz still has tens of thousands of miles left in her so bid with confidence!
