Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1949 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 Ton Pickup, "Ada Mae", a Rat Rod Offspring. This is a solid truck from the cab to the truck bed to the fenders to the running boards. In excellent mechanical condition and she runs strong. All steel and truck weighs in at 3220 lbs. History: After purchasing the truck I was able to contact the 2nd owner in order to find out more about the truck. I call him the 2nd owner since he was the one that finished building the truck. He had purchased the unfinished truck in a divorce sale. The top was already chopped and the truck had been painted. He purchased the 327 engine from a friend which was a rebuilt with approximately 30K miles on it, completed the interior, installed a used GM TH350 3 speed automatic with 3K miles on it, and finished the build in 2004. He said the paint job wasn't that great when he purchased it so he decided to scruff up the paint & also added some primer along with silver paint to make it look really beat up, rusted and in disrepair. He found an individual to hand paint the logo on each door as well as the pinstripping. He put approximately 3K miles on the truck and sold it to a guy sometime in 2009 who owned a car dealership & I call him the 3rd owner. The 3rd owner never re-registered the truck but left it in the 2nd owner's name - that is how I was able to locate the 2nd owner. The 3rd owner had the truck for several months and then sold the truck in an auto auction. The truck was purchased by a car dealer in Georgia who listed it for sale. I purchased the truck from that dealer in May 2010 and had it shipped to California. The truck had new tires on it when I purchased and it came with a used spare which has decent tread. I call it my Sunday driver since I only drove it to car shows and around town in the summer. I keep it garaged and the truck is in excellent mechanical condition. The vehicle has only been driven a total of 4,339 miles since it was finished in 2004. I have driven it a little over 800 miles since I purchased it in May 2010. Reason for Selling: I just purchased a 1964 Chevrolet El Camino so Ada Mae must go. Yes, I do change my Sunday drivers every year or two. Hopefully the El Camino will be my last Sunday driver but that's what I said 6 cars ago. Modifications/Fixes: I have made the following modifications & fixes since purchasing in May 2010 -- had new spark plugs installed as well as new spark plug wires, and a tuneup, it had new tires when I purchased it but they were never balanced so I had the tires balanced, I also had the drive shaft balanced, had the valve cover gaskets replaced, had the oil pan & gasket replaced with a new oil pan & gasket, had the transmission gasket replaced, had the rear brakes including the emergency brake adjusted - plenty left on brakes, installed a new black Lokar shift boot, had a new Lokar transmission lockout installed (will not start in any gear, starts only in neutral or park as it should), the battery was located in the interior behind the seat when I purchased so I had it relocated by installing a new drop down battery box under the passenger compartment and installed a new Interstate battery, also installed a plugin connection on the battery for easy trickle charging when stored & the plugin connection is easily accessible & is located by lower front of the exterior passenger door - no need to crawl under the truck, replaced the original 1949 radiator with a new Griffin aluminum radiator, installed new Spal high performance push type electric fan, had a new radiator temperature control with harness installed and is preset at 180 degrees, replaced worthless door mounted plastic mirrors with chrome convex peep mirrors, replaced 18" 1953 Oldsmobile steering wheel with a 14" Grant Elite GT polished 4 spoke steering wheel, installed new KYB KG5440 gas adjust front shocks, installed light yellow nylon weave with black skulls for interior door pulls, carburetor: power jet replaced, replaced gas jets from #66 to #69, new gaskets. All work was performed by an old school licensed mechanic & I have all the slips. No leaks and the truck runs strong. Body: 1949 Chevrolet pickup cab chopped 3 1/2", vent windows and drip rails removed, v-butt windshield with no cracks or chips, shaved doors with manual door poppers, 1954 Chevrolet pick hood, fenders and grille assembly, 1954 Chevrolet pickup bed with widened rear wheel wells (widened 3"), oak bed, tonneau cover, LED 3rd brake light, rear rolled pan with LED tail lights, LED rear license plate bolt lights, 18 gallon fuel cell is mounted under the bed, privacy glass all the way around with no cracks or chips. Chassis & Suspension: 1988 Ford Ranger frame, 1988 Ford Ranger twin i beam front suspension, front power disc brakes with rear drum brakes, KYB KG5440 gas adjust front shocks, rear leaf springs & shocks, deep dish steelie smooth rims with baby moons, almost new Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires, front are P235/60R15 & rear are P295/50R15 Drivetrain: rebuilt Chevrolet 327, Holley aluminum intake, mild camshaft, Holley carburetor, chrome valve covers, chrome alternator, Griffin aluminum radiator, Spal 16" high performance push style electric cooling fan, GM TH350 3 speed automatic, 32" floor mount Lokar double bend shifter, Ford Ranger 7.5 rear end Interior: non smoker, mild rat rod interior, diamond plate kick panels, old school pleated door panels & head liner, modified dash with Dolphin gauges, mid 70's GM Van tilt steering column, 14" Grant Elite polished 4 spoke steering wheel, Kenwood KDC-MP238 WMA/MP3 CD Receiver with Front-Panel Auxilary Input and External Media Control with removable faceplate & remote control, Jensen 6x9 speakers with grilles located behind seat in carpeted speaker boxes, 92-93 Chevrolet S10 bench seat, directional signals, 4 way hazard lights, sealed beam headlights, all gauges & lights work as they should, bear claw door latches with manual door poppers, seat belts, light yellow nylon weave with black skulls door pulls, black carpets throughout including back of cab, plenty of storage behind bench seat for jack, fire extinguisher, etc., comes with carpeted JUKE floor mats as well as Chevrolet rubber floor mats, brake pedal lights purple when parking or headlights are switched on Paint: painted to look worn & faded with the paint in various stages of disrepair. The more it looks like a junkyard dog the better. The paint is smooth to the touch. Hand painted pinstripping inside & out. The hand painted Rock Farm Chop Shop logo on each door adds to the rat rod look and the young lady in the logo is none other then Ada Mae. Ada Mae draws a crowd each time I take her out. Two questions that I am always asked - "When are you going to finish it?" AND "Where is Rock Farm? Happy Bidding!!
