This is an 88 924S with a reconditioned cylinder head with less than one hundred miles on the installed head. I bought it at the end of '09 with the intention of driving it out to California. It has been sitting for a few years but whenever I am able, about once or twice a year I flush out the gas and replace it and put a few miles on the car. Would like to throw the driveline in a nicer car but I don't have time. I have driven it a few times in the last couple days to test it out and here is a list of everything i've found mechanically so far, - gear shift lever to engage reverse, i have engaged reverse at the transmission so i know the transmission is fine.- possibly needs motor mounts, the previous owner put on an exhaust and it definitely feels like a race car but this is my first 924s and i'm not sure if the vibration at idle is excessive- rear hatch is delaminating- steering wheel has a shimmy when driving straight around 55, when driving slow out the driveway there is a distinct shock that can be felt at the wheel so i feel like this is front shock related and possibly tire balancing issue. the bushings all seem tight on inspection and the wheels have no play when jacked up- power steering leak from one or both the supply hoses from the reservoir. the actual power side and steering system is dry- a pack rat had built a nest in the air filter box and i have shop vac'd everything i could get to but there may be surprises- oil pressure gauge and odometer not working Just installed a new crank sensor and speed sensor The car is located 1 hour south of san antonio , 78118the engine code is - M44 / 5145J00978transmission code is - 8Q 20 06 3here is a link to the photo gallery - -http://s1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff382/mcarter5793/88%20Porsche/
