Vehicle Detail
This car has had Mobil One in it since the day we brought it home from the Quirk Quincy show room. It's a one owner car that has been very well taken care of. We are selling it because the three kids don't all fit in the passat and instead of putting some more money into it, it would be better spent to go with a new car that fits us better. The newer Camry and Accords are both bigger than the Passat and will take three car seats across the back which would save us a lot in gas mileage(our other car is a Toyota 4Runner 17mpg, uhg) during weekend trips to the grandparents. What does it have for options? Just about everything. Driver and passenger front airbags as well as front and rear side curtain airbags. Heated leather seats (AWESOME in the winter time), separate snow/ice tires(Blizzaks) on stock rims and summer tires on premium rims, AC, and a moon-roof. It's silver with gray leather, no rust or body defects. The leather does have one small worn area on the drivers seat near the door, it's a small rip about an inch and a half. It has 128,800 commuter miles. It is a 5 speed standard, which both my wife and I enjoy driving. No problems with the clutch, still drives great. It also has EBC performance drilled front and rear rotors with EBC "red stuff" performance kevlar brake pads. The brakes were changed withing the last 2 years so there is nothing to be done there for a while. It's been a great car for us, we are just a bit too big for it now. We generally get 26-28mpg per tank (highway and city combined)with the passat. Recent service: It had the timing belt changed along with the typical other changes they lump into the timing belt replacement at about 114K miles. The MAF sensor was replaced in 2011 as well as the CV joints. Only German parts are used as replacement parts, my mechanic believes non German parts are inferior in quality. The air filter is a K&N performance air filter, just another example of upgraded parts like the brakes and rotors. I also had the power steering fluid flushed. 12/22/11 I replaced the radiator as it developed a leak, including 2 new gallons of G12 (pink) mixed at a 1:1 ratio (maximum freeze protection). Mileage may differ as it's still being used occassionally. It's priced to sell at 4500, recently lowered from 4900. My mechanic said it's going to need a steering rack at some point in the future. In the morning when you first start the car up, the steering wheel is tight until you turn once or twice and then it behaves normally for the rest of the day. It's common on this model and it's an $800+ job. It's not required to be done immediately as the rack is not leaking, but at some point it will need it. I mentioned above we have two full sets of rims and tires, the summer(really "all season") tires are nearly new, the rubber on the winter tires are worn (5 stock rims!). When you combine a steering rack with new winter tires, we decided to put that money into a new car that fits all the kids and their car seats. Please remember, the snow tires are on an extra set of rims, using snow tires are optional, not required, the tread on the all season "summer" tires are around 75%. I did notice one small dent yesterday on the passenger side rear wheel area. The paint is not scratched and it's difficult to see, it's the only exterior blemish. If you are interested, please email me with any questions, a phone number, and a good time to call, and I will call you promptly. Here is the data from NADA, the reason I use NADA is because it's what the banks and dealerships use. 2002 Volkswagen Passat Sedan 4D GLS Turbo NADAguides.com Price Report Clean Retail Base Price $5,900 Mileage: 129,956 miles -$175 Options: W/out Auto.
