Vehicle Detail

Re-listed because the winning bidder was not comfortable sending payment in a timely manner. Please bid with confidence, I have been doing business on ebay for years and have excellent feedback. If you plan to ship this car overseas I will be happy to accomodate you, but I require a $500 deposit through paypal within 24 hours of auction close, and full payment in 3 business days. This is not unreasonable. You're bidding on a 1967 Mercedes 250SL. This car is an export model originally delivered to France, It spent time in Switzerland and was imported in 1982 to upstate NY. The car still wears all of its original Euro-spec equipment including metric instrumentation and yellow French Headlights. Re-painted once in the early 1980's in the original red, the paint shows very well for its age; it shines beautifully as seen in the pictures. Mechanically this car is excellent. It was cared for by one specialty mechanic for 29 years since being imported to the U.S. Having just received an extensive tune-up, this mercedes runs, drives and stops very well with no issues. The engine is a replacement 2.5 sourced from a sedan (according to the tag numbers). The fuel tank is clean, and the injection system is in excellent working order. The automatic trans shifts firmly and this car is truly a joy to drive. The Interior is original in parchment vynil, showing normal wear from years of careful use. The white dash has discolored, and the wood trim will need some attention. All instrumentation works including the odometer, showing 128,000 km (80,000 miles). Speakers were added to the rear deck panels, but the add-on radio was removed at some point. The soft top frame was removed from the car for restoration and is included with the sale. If the new buyer is interested, I can have a quality cloth top installed for a good price. The hard top is in good shape. The original paint on the roof shows minor checking in the finish, but looks very presentable. The body of this Mercedes is a true survivor, especially for a car that spent its early life in Europe. Though there was one repaint 30 years ago, I see no evidence of rust repair on the body or chassis. The trunk is clean, with a few tiny pinholes on the left side of the trunk floor; fenders are rust-free and straight. The pictures show how clean the car really is. There is one small rust spot on the passenger-side floor pan where the firewall meets the floor (shown in pictures). There are a few small dents in the front bumper and one on the grille surround. The paint has bubbled on the lower section in one spot (see pics), and the paint has crazed a bit on the body seams where the rear fenders meet the body structure.
