Beautiful AMC Eagle Ltd. Edition Wagon Amazing condition for its age. Weekend driver, we've treated it with TLC since purchasing it from another collector/private-seller in 2006. For the uninitiated, the Eagle was the original crossover wagon (search wikipedia for AMC Eagle...). It's a beefy 6-cyl in a heavy wagon; in 4WD it can handle just about any terrain you can throw at it -- especially snow! It has a floaty, mid-80s-family-car sort of ride that is quite comfortable and fun. The limited edition was the luxury model... automatic transmission, cruise control, power windows, locks and seats, leather(ish?) interior, and a bunch of faux wood thrown on everywhere for effect. Classy! We always get smiles and conversations with strangers from this car. It even got borrowed by a photographer who spotted it parked for a fashion campaign/video (some photos are included, or see vimeo.com/19721787 ). I honestly hate to see it go, but with a 2nd kid on the way we finally opted to go for modern convenience and got one of its spiritual descendants (a newer Subaru Outback Wagon). The exterior is stunning, with the usual bits of character stemming from age. The original dark blue paint job with faux wood-panel sides. No big dents or scratches, only minor bits of scuff. The interior is great! Original tan leather upholstery, only worn on the driver's seat. The original headliners is not discolored or sagging in any way, which is rare. The mechanicals are good, we've had the car consistently checked and maintained throughout ownership. Starts and runs great. I haven't done anything to enhance its performance or re-work the car, and certainly someone more mechanically inclined could get it to perform even better. Switchable 2W/4WD works great, and it very recently passed another NY State Inspection pending we had the CV Joints repaired. Well maintained with a full maintenance record since ownership, including: - Undercarriage treated for rust prevention and a portion of the frame reinforced for safety.- Replaced transmission- Replaced brake fluid reservoir- Repaired exhaust manifold- Repaired radiator- Replaced muffler- Brake jobs, tires balanced- Recently repaired CV Joints- Hood latch repaired (wouldn't open easily) Overall, the Eagle is in great shape, but is obviously starting to show some character with age. Minor issues that could be tended to include... needs some fuses for interior light, driver's side power window motor is out, faux wood panel siding is starting to peel on the driver's side, speaker covers brittle/cracked/removed, driver's interior door handle loose/off, driver's seat belt works but enclosure frame is broken, AC/Heat functional but not (each works, but somewhat weak and arbitrarily), rear passenger door interior has an impression dent on the detailing. Needs TLC! Would love to know this car finds itself into the hands of a collector or enthusiast - it really deserves a good home! Has consistently passed NY State Safety Inspections on an annual basis. With each inspection we generally had to get routine maintenance done (fluids, brakes, CVs, etc.). Some random spare parts (carburetor, hubcap) and the full AMC Eagle Chilton's Manual are included with the car. Due to its age, the Eagle is sold AS-IS with no warranty.
