Vehicle Detail

***Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements*** Re-listed due to an inconsiderate time waster from out of the country. Frame number RS10928 dates to 1958 & Engine number VR2870 dates to 1960. So what I have here is a 1959 Velocette. It is titled and registered as such in my name. Technically, it is a Viper based on the engine code. However, the engine was modified with Venom top end parts. I believe that this was common practice during the time, since both models were virtually identical less their engine displacements. One could rebuild the motor with the Venom's larger piston, cylinder and head for club racing, etc...It's displacement is 500cc. A Venom-ized Viper in Clubman's form. I have owned this bike for several years and I collect Classic English bikes. When I first got it, it was barely a running bike, no brakes, no suspension. Simply all there but little good and nothing great. I first concentrated on the mechanics (engine). A brand new Amal Monobloc, BTH Magneto rebuild, lots of fiddling and adjusting! Clutch overhaul, gear-box overhaul. New and straight front suspension, fork stancions, seals, springs. New front hub with twin leading shoe brake. New rear shocks. New seat. New high shouldered aluminum wheels and tires. A lot of new misc parts. All parts used were authentic, NOS or purchased from Grove Classics in the UK. No expense was spared in the parts or the quality of work. My restorer/mechanic only works on classic British bikes...32 yrs. experience. The bike runs well, shifts well, sounds great and is fun to ride. Starts on the second kick. Please note that the engine was rebuilt at some point, since it has a Venom top end but not in the time I have owned it. It runs very well and a rebuild is not imperative now. It depends on you! I would do it eventually because I'm a perfectionist, but I would only do it the right way so save your $$. There's plenty of compression. It's relatively oil tight as well. Also, at the back of the gas tank the paint is bubbling. I'd recommend patching and repainting the tank, it's original. Feel free to email me with any questions.
