You probably know all about TDIs if you found this one (46/51 mpg). Ths is a mechanically sound 1997 B4 with Bilstein shocks and struts. 138K actual miles and has the original instrument cluster. Timing belt (contitech) was done at 131K. New rear axles at that time and right tie rod. Also cleaned out intake manifold. Just got a brand new Volero starter installed. The engine and 5-speed manual transmission are in excellent shape. Have used Rotella T6 oil and the cam shows little wear. All work has been done by a TDI mechanic and there are no CEL on and vag-com diagnostic was just run. Mechanically very solid. The air conditioner and heater work and there is no rust. New rear brakes at 133K. Now for the not-so-good. The passenger window needs a regulator, but the electric motor runs. The trunk only opens from the inside release (broken linkage). The door locks work, but can only unlock from the passenger front. Its 15 years old, so the body has all the expected dings and the trunk lid has the worst ding - I've included a photo of the worst. The front leather seats have rips, but I have seat covers.. Two good tires and will need two others soon. The passenger outside rear mirror only has 1/2 glass in it. Occasionally (about 10% of the time), I have to jiggle the steering wheel to get it to start. The seat heaters do not work. It has an aftermarket cd player and radio. All the door handles work fine (they can be an issue on this model). I think I am the third owner of the car. Florida, North Carolina, and then here, so no rust. It has a sunroof and good gaskets with no leaks. I think the car will run forever if you can put up with the quirks and such. I've tried to honestly describe the car, but it is 15 years old so remember when bidding that this is just reliable transportation and not a 'looker". It's the biggest and roomiest of that era tdis and has really good power. It gets great mileage when I drive the speed limit, my wife only gets about 42/48 mpg. This car is and has been my daily driver. Reason for selling is I purchased the car last spring for a stop gap while saving for a newer TDI- which I'm getting this Christmas.
