Vehicle Detail

CJ2A13359 This Jeep was manufactured by Willys-Overland Motors Incorporated of Toledo, Ohio in January 1946. The CJ-2A started production late in 1945 and changes followed shortly after when on-hand stock (MB parts) were used up in early 1946. Like the MB and GPWs there were major changes made during the CJ2A's production, and like the MBs, the first ones produced are the most desirable. As with the MB’s distinctive series within its production, there are two distinct early CJ-2A’s. They are referred to as Very Early Civilian (VEC) and Early Civilian (EC) CJ-2A’s. A CJ-2A up to about serial number 34530 is considered VEC and from mid-1946 to about mid-1947 is considered EC. This particular one is a very early VEC. Production Information Year Starting s/n Ending s/n Units built 1945 10001 11824 1824 1946 11825 83379 71554 1947 83380 148458 65078 1948 148459 222581 74122 1949 222582 224764 2182 Serial numbers for the CJ2A start at #10001. The serial number on this jeep is “CJ2A 13359”; therefore it is the 3359th jeep manufactured for civilian use, and the 1534nd CJ built in 1946. It is one of 1,629 CJ2As built by Willys in 1946 with an MB style body, the MB “Dana 25 full-floating rear axle” and a 3 speed “T-90” manual transmission with the shifter mounted on the steering column: Up to # 13453 - MB* style full floating rear axle. Full Floating rear axle was dropped and the stronger Dana / Spicer model 41 was added. Up to # 15304 - MB* style one piece windshield adjusting arms. Up to # 18638 - MB* style exhaust system on VEC 2A’s. The first VEC had the muffler under the driver seat. Up to #29500 - MB* style ax and shovel indents under the driver’s doorway. Up to #38221 - Column mounted shifter "Three on the Tree". Up to #38221 - The CJ-2A only came in two colors--Pasture Green and Harvest Tan. The Pasture Green 2A’s had Autumn Yellow wheels (a bright yellow) with a Pasture Green pin stripe. The Harvest Tan 2A’s used Sunset Red wheels (not a red but a bright pumpkin orange) with an American Black pin stripe. The pin stripe was ¼ inch wide and was just past the roll of the center part of the wheel. (Note: the paint color that is underline is Willys official name for the color). Up to #38687 - Headlight trim rings were the body color after they changed to chrome. Up to #44417 - MB* style timing chain engine. Up to #45723 - Rear tail lamp door was black after they changed to chrome. Up to #67921 - Rear Reflectors were black after they changed to chrome. Up to #97740 - MB* style parking lamps with civilian front lenses. The Jeep starts and drives, but I am assuming that after 65 years it might need to be rebuilt or maybe not. there is not much rust on the body, the under carrige has been repaired in the past and will need to be repaired correctly if your looking for a perfect example of a Jeep. It has the original Plow and Winch. Plow works perfectly and so does the winch. On Dec-12-11 at 20:20:28 PST, seller added the following information: Just wanted to add, this is a 1946 Jeep. Its all original. The floors look to have been rusted and patched a long time ago. The Top is perfect, and so are the seats, I can send more detailed pictures to any buyer via e-mail upon request. On Dec-12-11 at 20:35:50 PST, seller added the following information: Also the transmission is not an automatic its a 3 speed manual on the column.
