The Sale Of This Car Fell Through. Person Could Not Pay So I Am Relisting It!!!!!!!!!!I am Selling this 1972 GTO for my father in law. He is the second owner of this car. A mechanic out of Richmond Va purchased the car original. My father in law has owned this car for 10 years. It has antique tags on it. It has been garaged kept. Has been to several car shows and won.This car is all original with the miles listed 42,717. Rare to see this kind of car with this few miles. The only things not original on this car are the wheels, paint, radio and speakers and my father in law put a high discharge distributor cap on the car. Starts right up and smooth running as you will see in the pictures. Car is Number Matching. THIS IS NOT A CLONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As you see in the picturs there is no rust around the windows. I tried to take pictures under the car to show there is no rust. There has not been any major work done to the engine. Tires on the back are a little fat they could rub if you hit a big bump in the road. Air condition did work before he took the belt off for it to save on gas. Air was going to need a charge. I have a inspection certificate dated 3-26-01 showing 32,859 miles. It is now 2011 and the car odometer has 42,717. That is 9,858 miles in 10 years that I can prove. What miles that were driven before that I am not 100% sure. If you take 32,859 and divide that into 3 10 year intervals it comes to 10,953 mile every ten years. For a classic car that is not hard to believe for a 2 owner car. The car is in excelant shape. No rust. Seats and carpet show almost no wear. head rest even looks great. Headliner trim look good. you can tell the engine has not been taken apart. Transmission is smooth. The only wear I see is that it is 39 years old. You are welcome to test drive and inspect the car for yourself. In 1972 GTO became a Lemans option losing the '242' VIN code. Verifying a GTO option must be done either by contacting PHS or by a build sheet found in the car. The GTO option is listed as '334' on the build sheet or 'W62' on the dealer bill of sale. A nice feature of 1972 VIN tags is that the engine displacement is listed as the fifth digit. GTOs only came with 400s or 455s. Lemans could have any V8 engine available so don't rely on the VIN tag alone. The GTO front end was available as a $41 option on Lemans.
