Up for auction is this 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. It has the 352 V-8, 4 BBL, Automatic Transmission with dual exhaust. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Top, AM Radio. We aquired this car a short time ago from the prior owner who has had this car for a little over 10 years now. The car belonged to his wife but her job transfered her to the Carolinas so they were unable to take the car with them. We aquired this car and an older pickup truck from them. This car was in storage for the past 2 years as he was intending on doing a cosmetic restoration to it. Being very busy with their jobs they never got around to doing what they wanted to with the car. The car runs and drives nice. We did install a new fuel tank, tune up and just cleaned it up a bit. Car has a fairly recent top. Interior appears to be stock original and in driver quality condition. The body on the car is very respectable. It does have some lower rear quarter rust on the passenger side and will require a lower replacement panel to be right. Drivers side has some bubbling on the rear quarter lip but looks very fixable. The paint is respectable but there is some cracking on top of the passenger rear quarter and some chips that have been touched up here and there. Also the passenger front fender had a scratch and was sanded down and touched up with primer. The underside of the car appears to be quite solid. Floor pans, braces, frame rails all look good. Typical New England surface rust here and there but looks like it wouldnt take much to clean it up nicely. Depends if your trying to make a show car or just want a good driver then it is fine like it is. All lights, turn signals, etc work. In trying the top I noticed the factory toggle switch works fine in the up position but there is no room to put it in the down position. It seems to hit the retainer ring and does not allow for movement. This may be able to be adjusted or may need switch replacement. We have the factory boot for the convertible top and the original air cleaner and tire jack. Overall this is a presentable convertible that with a little TLC will be ready for the spring and summer months. There is not much out there for reasonable money so bid to own. We try to price our vehicles so the everyday working person can afford it. We have a good Maine transferable registration and with that and our dealer paperwork you can get a title in your state should you need one. Also should you buy the car but are not able to pick it up right away, we have an extra spot in a storage barn that we rent. We can keep it there till late April of next year.
