Vehicle Detail
This 1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible needs total restoration or it could be used as a parts car. It runs and drives and it has a clear Florida title. This car cannot be driven on the road in its current condition because it has quite a bit of rust and needs electrical and brake repair. The odometer shows 97,731 miles but I don’t know if that is the true mileage. It is being sold “mileage exempt” because of its age. BODY / FLOORS / PAINT / CHROME: As you can see in the pictures, this Ghia has plenty of rust in the floors, rockers, around the trunk, and in other body panels. It needs a lot of body work. It looks like there is some previously repaired damage to the front fender/nose area. The bumpers and chrome are in fair condition but they would need rechroming if the car was going to be restored. MECHANICAL: The engine starts and runs pretty well but has the typical oil leaks and consumption. The engine compartment looks correct except for the air cleaner. The transmission and clutch feel okay but the brake pedal is soft. The front end will need some work because there are sometimes noises when you make sharp turns. INTERIOR: The seats are in fair condition. The pictures show the condition of the rest of the interior. The top frame and latch mechanism are there but it obviously needs a new soft top. The top boot is included. GAUGES / ELECTRICAL: A couple of the lights and gauges work, but most do not. You will need to go through all of the electrical stuff. THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS, WHERE-IS, WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. I have tried to describe this vehicle accurately and I posted lots of pictures. If you are unsure about bidding please come see it in person first. Please bid only if you are serious and have the money to complete the purchase. If you are the winning bidder you will have entered into a binding contract to complete the purchase in accordance with eBay rules. DEPOSIT / PAYMENT / LEGAL: A $200 non-refundable PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance must be paid by cash, cashier’s check, or wire transfer within seven days of the end of the auction. Any cashier’s checks must clear my bank before the vehicle can be released. If the winning bidder fails to pay in accordance with these requirements, I may, at my option, make second-chance offers or re-list/remarket the vehicle and the deposit will be forfeited by the bidder to help cover the extra expenses. I retain the right to end the listing early. The sale location is Bell, Florida, Florida law governs, and venue lies exclusively in Gilchrist County, Florida. SHIPPING / PAPERWORK / SALES TAX: Arranging and paying for shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder. I am a long-time classic car enthusiast and a licensed automobile dealer (Classic Investment Motorcars Inc.). This means that we must complete standard sales and transfer forms, and if you live in Florida or want to pick up the car personally in Florida I must collect the applicable sales tax and tag/title fees from you. If the vehicle is shipped out of Florida by common carrier or a shipping company I will not be required to collect the sales tax. I do not charge any dealer fees, processing fees or other junk add-on fees. Please feel free to call me at 352-283-0268 or email me through eBay if you have any questions.
