Vehicle Detail

Photos will be listed asap ..here for your consideration is a very solid MGA 1500 roadster on disc wheels..the car is relatively unmolested california car ..it has had one repaint in a lighter blue than its original Glacier blue which is now peeling revealing the original paint and some area's had been rubbed down by the previous owner before restoration was abandoned and show solid metal ..no evidence of major accidents or corrosion ..original grill. bumpers and the sill finishers are still in place ..there is some pinholing on both rear fender doglegs and the l/h outer rocker (inners rock solid) . I aquired the vehicle as a typical 'barn find' ..the car had sat for over 20 years ..the cylinder head had been removed from the car, taken to a machine shop for overhaul..and never collected :- so far i have :- pressure washed vehicle inside ,outside and underneath .. engine :- head studs removed and block face cleaned for inspection ..side covers removed and lifters removed, cleaned and inspected ..all were in excellent condition bar #5 which had a very small pit (about 1/8" dia) and was replaced ..sidecovers cleaned and replaced with new gaskest and washers ..engine mounts undone ,engine lifted, oil pan removed, oil pump removed ..all parts cleaned and inspected ..cylinder bore's lightly honed..re-assembled with new NOS BMC 'milemaster' ring set (std size) rod bearings replaced with clevite brand (-.020" under) crank excellent..no scores or discernable wear ..oil pump screen replaced .. oil pan re-fitted.. 'spin on' oil filter conversion installed.. starter motor re-furbished..distributor re-furbished (all NOS Lucas parts) generator re-furbished (original with bolt on terminals..armature and front ball race replaced) cluch slave cyl removed, cleaned inspected and new seals fitted ..correct '58 cylinder head sourced..hot tanked, shot peened, magnafluxed, fitted 8 hard seats, bronze guide inserts, MGA Mk2/MGB mk1 valves installed..all sharp edges removed from combustion chambers .and surface ground ..carburettors stripped, cleaned ,inspected and re-built.. fuel pump removed, cleaned, inspected and tested for operation.. all brake drums removed for inspection..both front hubs removed and bearings checked.. all zirk fittings greased.. both main wooden floors replaced .. bumpers removed, dismantled and all hardware threads re-tapped ..re-assembled with anti sieze on all nuts and bolts .. as it stands today I'm awaiting ;- cylinder head gasket set ..wheel cylinder set..rear lamp gaskets ..and a host of small items .. as of yet condition of transmission and rear axle are unknown ..the former is relatively clean with little crud build up and clean oil inside..the axle is caked with crud ..but has clean oil inside..both rear hub seals are dry (not leaking) the wheels have all been cleaned and painted and sound 165x15 tires fitted .. my aim was to get the car running for assesment ..and then tackle a full restoration .. I still have to pull the fuel tank for re-furbishing .. the car should be running and driving by next week .. for someone looking for a very sound ,relatively original car to restore (or just enjoy 'as is') who knows what to look for on these cars, although cosmetically ugly, this one has NO hidden horrors and will not dissapoint .. I have set a very realistic reserve ..if it does not sell it will be put away until a later date On Dec-03-11 at 08:24:05 PST, seller added the following information: there have been some question's regarding condition of trunk floor ..its solid but has some surface rust .. the parts have now arrived to allow the car to run again..as of Sat Dec 3 the rear brakes have been re-furbished (R/H 1/2 shaft gasket replaced..back plates and drums cleaned ..new wheel cyls fitted, new parking brake cable fitted..new axle check straps fitted ) .the top frame is in position and header rail still attatched (top discarded due to age...the sidecurtains are basically shot..could be refurbed..but more sensible to buy new) work is ongoing ;- just to be clear..the car will be sold as a running car ..but it remains 'project'..at the very least..a new top and interior should be fitted ..what one does to the paint/body is a matter of choice..again NO HIDDEN Horrors..condition is very obvious for those who know what they are looking at ..btw..the font valance has the common/ususal damage from careless tow truck operator.(probably 20-30 years ago) .it CAN be repaired by a skilled metalman..but is at least 2 hours work to get 'right' .. I'll post more images as and when i can ..thank you. On Dec-04-11 at 20:24:19 PST, seller added the following information: Sun 12-4 ..I have added a few more images to show area's requested ..the trunk floor has some surface corrosion, but no rust through ..again..this is a solid car overall... both rear fender doglegs ..and R/H outer rocker have pinholes..the hood or bonnet is not wonderful ..but can me made good As of today the cylinder head is now fitted to the car.. I have not fitted the front wheel cylinders or tackled replacing the dual master cylinder ..the radiator is an original Morris radiators unit (some 53 years old). answer to clarify 'running' :- the engine of the car will be running as it should ..the car will move and go thorugh the gears .the brakes will work the oil/water guage will work..I CANNOT vouch for the other guages..or any electrical systems ..new wiring loom recommended ..someone asked if it would drive to New Mexico,,NO IT WONT .it will get on and off trailer or car transporter.. . to repeat..this is a "project' car .it is some 53 years old .. it sat unused for at least 2 decades(maybe longer) ...no warranties expressed or implied ..sold as is ..not 'road ready'..it needs restoration ..including a full interior ..seat frames are solid ..the upholstry is poor ..and wooden bases need replacement .someone mentioned the interior looks black, not grey as listed..apart form seats and front 'kick panles' (which have been recovered) there is NO upholstry grey was (I beleive) the original interior colour ..based on the dash piping ..which is grey uder the black paint ..glacier blue cars came with either black or grey interiors ..a 'herirage certificate' will confirm original paint and int colours. .NO.. softop (top frame still fitted) .NO useable side curtains . NO tonneau cover ..has spare wheel and holdown bracket (shown in images) but NO tools whatsover.. and yes ;- I can 'restore' the car to order if required .. On Dec-05-11 at 08:26:25 PST, seller added the following information: for serious buyer with questions..I am unable to reply to more questions..please phone me on (530 913 4920) and leave a message with your phone number ..I will call you back ..thank you .
