DESCRIPTION:
Audi is one of the premier performance luxury car manufacturers. The A6 mid-size sedan has always been their best seller. We first sold this car when it was almost new and some years later it was traded in for a newer model. We then put this Audi into our Loaner Car Fleet where it has served our customer's well for many years. We have always maintained the car according to the factory schedules, but some problems have crept up recently that make this car ready for eBay. We recently purchased a new fleet of loaner cars so this one must go.
Our Audi runs, looks and drives very good. It is loaded with BOSE audio with an in-dash CD player and a trunk mounted CD changer. The interior is leather with power seats, power sunroof, power windows, rich wood trim, automatic transmission w/electronic sport shift mode, tilt/telescopic steering, dual-zone climate control, and more! This car has the right combination of sportiness and luxury and looks great doing it. For safety there are dual front airbags and side curtain airbags too. There are anitlock brakes, 4-wheel disc brakes, a "Quattro" All-Wheel-Drive drivetrain, xenon headlights, and more. This car has a lot to offer and with a little work, will be a great daily driver.
Mechanically, the vast majority of this car's systems are in excellent working condition, but there are some issues that need to be addressed. The Cam Adjustment Seals are leaking badly and need to be replaced. The Transmission Output Seal is also leaking and needs to be replaced. The front CV Shafts need to be replaced. The Motor Mounts are deteriorating and need to be replaced. Thats really all the mechanical issues. The parts necessary to repair these problems would cost less than $300, but each item is a rather labor intensive job and that's where the expense comes in. A competent shadetree mechanic could perform all the labor themselves meaning the mechanical repair job on this Audi would be cheap to do. Our Audi runs and drives great as it is, but you can definitely smell the oil burning when the engine is running because the oil is dripping on the engine's parts and heating up. We really recommend fixing the leaks because the engine requires adding fresh oil pretty often and the leaking oil will puddle underneath the car over time. Electronically, everything except for the instrument cluster's center display works correctly. The center display gives read-outs for the on-board computer's diagnositcs and that screen is blank. The read-outs at the bottom of the tach and the speedometer work fine. Those are the ones that display, the time, date, odometer and trip meter.
Cosmetically, our Audi looks very nice inside and out. There are some issues to be address however. Outside, the paint and body look good all over except for the paint on the hood, which has some significant clear-coat peeling going on. The rest of the car's paint looks good with only some minor chips and or tiny scratches here and there. The rear bumper has some noticeable scratches from people loading stuff into the trunk, but even that is not bad. The alloy wheels look nice with only some very minor brake dust etching in the crevices. The only real problem with the wheels is the center caps, which need to be replaced. The tires are mis-matched front to rear. The front tires have about 30-40% of their tread-life remaining, while the rear tires have about 70% of their tread-life remaining. Inside, this Audi looks very good overall. Most of the interior issues are cosmetic and could easily and cheaply be fixed. The center armrest has some cracking in the leather cover, the headliner is sagging in the right rear, the plastic cover is loose on the dash-mounted pop-out cupholder above the audio system, the right rear floormat is missing, a small rubber body plug in the driver's footwell is missing, the gray coating on the door pulls and the center console storage tray is chipped up, and the center console cupholder is broken. All of these are minor and easily repairable items.
So there you have it...a nice looking, great driving 2001 Audi A6 2.8 Quattro available for your bidding pleasure so BID ON!
