Vehicle Detail

1978 Pontiac Trans AmRunning Project Car Please let me start off by saying that this car is only being sold because I have another one of these and I just don't have the time to restore two of them. This 1978 Trans Am is loaded with options for the year! The car is white, and from what I was told, was originally this color. The decals are all there. Here are the options for this car: Power WindowsPower LocksAir Conditioning (not hooked up)Am/Fm 8 Track Stereo (still works)Rear Window DefoggerPosi Rear EndPontiac 400 V8 Engine (from what I gather, it is supposedly the original)3 speed Automatic TransmissionCruise ControlINTERIOR: The interior isn't too bad considering the age. The am/fm 8 track stereo works great on all functions! The dash, console, door panels, and carpet have all been dyed black, but it originally had a blue interior. The power windows are sluggish, but they do operate with a little manual assistance. The power locks do NOT seem to work at all. I'm not really sure what's wrong with them. The seats need to be reupholstered, but they are still blue. Only one gauge doesn't seem to be working, but the rest work great! Of course, the clock does not run! The defogger switch does light up when turned on, but I have no idea if it is actually working or not. The dash is in very good condition. The worst flaw seems to be on the passenger side where a bubble has formed. There is a trunk release inside of the glove box. All of the interior seems to be there, minus the headliner, but it will need to be restored. The original Pontiac Rally wheels are all intact (4). EXTERIOR:The exterior will definitely need a little bit of work. The car looks very good from a distance, but up close, you can see where it has been repaired and repainted in the past. There is some paint chipping and clearly some bondo in the car, especially on the passenger side. There is also a rusted spot inside of the passenger side door opening (see picture). The car was originally ziebarted and from what I can tell, the rocker panels seem to be good. The quarter panels will need to be patched or replaced and the floor pans will need to be replaced as well (see pictures). There is also some minor rust on the trunk pan as well as around the rear window on the passenger side (see picture). The doors sag and have some rust on them, mainly in the jam. All of the lights seem to work as do the turn signals. The original shaker hood, with hood bird and scoop are intact and installed correctly. There are a few chips on the front nose cone. The paint does still have a slight shine to it, but it does have some scratches and a few very small spots of rust here and there. It is by NO MEANS A SHOW CAR!!! If you just want a classic daily driver, here it is. It still turns heads everywhere when I drive it. MECHANICS:From what I can tell, the Pontiac 400 6.6 Liter V8 runs good. It is a little cold natured when you first start it, but once it warms up, it seems to run well. The transmission shifts fine and doesn't seem to slip at all! There is a new water pump and fuel filter installed in the engine. The radiator is fairly new as well. The tires are in good shape. This car is posi from what I can tell! The exhaust is missing from the manifold...back. It does sound good as it is though lol. The heater works great! It gets nice and toasty inside! The air conditioner is intact, but not hooked up, so I cannnot say for sure whether or not it works. This engine still has the Quadrajet carb on it. I have tried my best to describe this car as accurately as possible! If you have any specific questions, please contact me. You are more than welcome to come see the car and hear it run, or even test drive it if you would like. I do have the car listed locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time without notice! Please note...this is NOT a brand new automobile! It has many flaws from years of existence! Please do not expect a show car! It is a good quality project car or daily driver! If I can get a specific picture of something on the car for you, please let me know. I will do my absolute best to help! This vehicle is sold as is! If you win the auction, the car is yours!!! A non-refundable payment of $500 is due within 24 hours of auction end via PayPal! You MUST pick this car up! I will not ship it! The car must be picked up within 1 week of auction end! You must pay for the car before I let it go! I will not accept payments! If you have any questions about auction terms or about the specifics of the car, please do not hesitate to contact me! I will be glad to answer your questions promptly! Thank you for looking and happy bidding!
