One Family owned - Parents purchased new, I ( son ) then purchased at 51,000 miles. Smoke free auto with clean accident free record. Average MPG is 45+, best MPG delivered 800 miles on it's 15 gallon tank to calculate 54 MPG ! After owning four Volkswagen diesels I've purchased another make automobile in July. Volkswagen's new diesel's have lower MPG ratings (40MPG) this and additional diesel engine option cost priced me out of their market. All Maintenance records, most recent are listed below; May 2011 - Front lower ball joints, Lower tie rod ends, Front end alignment, Inner shift linkage bracket, Fuel & Air filter, N75 boost control valve. March 2011 - Timing belt, Water pump, Front engine seal, Valve cover gasket, Oil cooler seal, Oil pan gasket, New front rotor and brake pads. February 2011 - Napa Battery. February 2010 - Alternator rebuilt. November 2009 - Tires. Plus more records on request... Car runs and drives, but has low acceleration due to intake / EGR valve being plugged up. The intake manifold on diesel model's of this era go for around 125,000 miles before plugging up. It was removed and cleaned at 125,000 miles with the help of a certified VW mechanic. It's time to complete this process again. Dealers solution is to replace intake manifold making it costly, but with some time and knowledge removing and cleaning it = saving $ As you can see in the pictures rust is occurring in various spots. Spot above windshield is rusting from body repair made after a fowl ball hit this and repair dates to 1999. PLEASE NOTE --- Located on the dash just below the radio is a device called Scan Gauge II, this is not included with sale of car.
