DESCRIPTION:

Feast your eyes on a nice example of a classic Mercedes. This antique 1966 Mercedes 250S looks very nice inside and out! For a small price you can own a piece of automotive history and actually drive it everyday too! The car has so much going for it that I really hate to put it down, but as it is with all our auction vehicles...I tell it like it is.

Don't get me wrong, the positives on this car far outweigh the negatives, but some things must be fixed to pass State Inspection. Now your state may not require annual inspections in which case you could drive this car for years without having to fix most all of the issues I will list. Outside, the paint is not the original paint, but it is the original color. The repaint was done a long time ago, but it still looks good. There are a few tiny scratches and chips here and there and it may be slightly dulled, but overall the paint is nice. Going around the car, the front chrome bumper looks very nice with only minor scratches, the massive chrome grille looks great, the headlights and chrome trim look great, the hood has a couple tiny chips up front, the left fender looks nice, the left front door has a small dent in the chrome moulding, the left rear door has some paint overspray on the moulding, the left 1/4 panel is badly rusted under the paint at the bottom behind the wheel and there is some epoxy holding the chrome moulding on at the rear. The trunk lid looks nice, the rear bumper looks nice everywhere except the right corner where the bumper is dented and bent in towards the body and the rubber trim is scuffed. The right 1/4 panel has a few tiny chips on the wheelwell edge, the right rear door has some paint overspray, the right front door has the same, the right fender is dented in at the front edge next to the headlight chrome, the roof looks nice, the wheels all look good even though the outer trim rings are scraped on the dges, and the tires are all new. The windshield has a long crack about 2ft long, but the rest of the glass looks nice. Most of these items can be seen in the multiple pics below.

Inside, the car is very nice with only minor cosmetic and mechanical issues. The seats all look great with only a tiny bit of wear on the piping on the driver's seat edge. The headliner is totally intact and not hanging down, but has some stains along the edges. The wood trim on top of the dash could use some stain and clearcoat, but it still is in good shape. Infact, all the wood trim looks good. The door panels all look great! Most of the chrome trim inside has some degree of pitting, but it still looks pretty good. The heater control panel is missing all the levers to control the heat. The A/C compressor kicks in, but isn't that effective in this extreme heat we are having. The weatherstrip on top of the driver's door is torn, the plastic around the shift gate is broken, and the shifter has some play in it, but works fine. The armrest on the passenger front door is cracked at the rear, the clock doesn't work and some knobs are missing by the gauges. The carpet and wool floor mats all look great and the interior is quiet and comfortable. This is one nice antique that is unrestored.

Mechanically, the car runs good in idle and while driving. The engine is a little hard starting and idles rough when very cold outside, but once warm and in "park" it idles very smooth. It runs smoothly when driving too, but idles VERY rough when in gear with the brake applied. It probably needs a carb adjustment. The power steering resevoir has a leak so the pump moans when turning and its hard to turn the wheel. The transmission has a slight fluid leak and the engine has a couple small and slow oil leaks that have caused an oil slick on the undercarriage. The turn signal switch will not stay in place unless you hold it and the inside blower motor is noisy sometimes, but works fine. The next items are State Inspection items: The floorpan has a couple rust holes, but nothing big. The right tie rod has some play in it, as does the idler arm. The windshield is cracked, the reverse light is not working, and the left brake light is not working.

Electronically, everything seems to work fine except for the aforementioned inspection items.

So, overall, this is a very nice looking classic Benz that just needs some mechanical work and some minor cosmetic work to 100%. Our RESERVE IS VERY LOW so BID NOW and BID OFTEN!
