Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1965 Chevy Impala Convertible. I bought this from an old man in Michigan in 2003. I bought this on Ebay. I have a copy on the listing(I have to look for it) I paid $13,500 for the car. I put a little bit of money in it. This is my 3rd "65" I have owned. I know a lot about the cars. Most notably the frame. Many of these cars have bad frames. This frame is perfect with only the normal surface rust. Before I bought this I looked at 5 cars and rejected them because of the condition of the frame. There is no rot. The frame is good because I and the previous owners have never had the car in the rain. The car has been protected from the harsh winters of the north. The car is in the exact condition I bought it in. It is not a show car. Although I have brought it to many shows and people love it, it has many flaws. If you want a "great" car then you must pay over $25,000. This car can be driven everywhere. It drives wonderfully. Since 2003 I have put around 1500 miles. There are leaks from the engine and trans, I have kept the fluids up. It is time for the engine and trans to be "freshened" up but it can be used as it is. This car is great to drive around and get attention and use in parades. It is also a great car to "mint" out. It has a great foundation to start from. My intention was to do a frame off restoration. What is nice, I did not have to. I and my kids have loved and enjoyed this car. My daughter had tears in her eyes when I told her I was going to sell it. The car is an unmolested original. All original panels everywhere ! There are a couple small holes in the floor pan under the seat, someone braised some sheet metal over the holes under the seat. The trunk is good with a couple of thin spots the pictures look bad because the rubber backing on the trunk liner is stuck to the floor on the trunk. There are so many hack panel replacement repairs out there. Doing panels must be treated like body work in and out, floors included The only thing the previous owner did was fill the few weak spots on the body and shoot a little fresh paint in a few spots. There are a few bubbles on right quarter panel. The fenders and doors have been touch up in a few spots. I have never washed this car with a hose. I have never had this car in the rain. I have always "washed" the car with a spray bottle of simple green and then finished it up with window cleaner. The interior is fair, it's perfect for regular use. There is a seam tear about 5 inches in the back seat bench. My daughter stood on the seat. There are also small holes and wear areas in the rest of the interior. The trunk lid is in nice shape, there are some dents in the surface of the lid. Glass is in good shape, it is not tinted. Some cars had a green tint. The door glass has A few chips in the edges. Glass is available, and easily changed. I wanted to change the glass to tinted. If you win this car you will love it. It is not perfect but it is beautiful. I am sorry to see it go. It is worth every penny of my reserve price. The reserve price is below the price that I paid for it. Do not bid if you will not carry through with your commitment to buy. Ask questions ! Since the car is available for sale locally, I reserve the right to sell it and remove the listing at will, so if you are interested "buy it now". Absolutely no foreign sales (except Canada). American Classic cars belong in America ! Do not bid on this car unless you live in the United States and have US currency !
