This car is a 1929 Shay Model A Roadster replica built in 1979-1980 (titled as 1980). It is not a kit car and was a 50th year anniversary tribute to the original 1929 Model A. Harry Shay, a GM engineer, contracted with Ford to supply a Ford Pinto 4-cylinder, manual transmission, Ford rear end for the drive train. The custom steel frame supports a fiberglass body and fenders with a rumble seat and painted steel cowl hood. The car has a folding soft top with side curtains. These cars also have non-power front disc and rear drum 4-bolt brakes, non-power rack and pinion steering, floor-mounted pull-up emergency brake and front coil and rear leaf spring suspension. The car was acquired in 1986 by my parents from a dealer in Buellton, CA. My parents were the second owners. They have always kept it in a garage. They took it out once per year for a local parade. It is in very nice shape overall. My dad passed away last week, and mom would like to sell it. It has an automatic transmission. The plastic cover which shows the gears is broken. The folding soft-top has a couple of small tears. The side curtains are in good shape. This is an "as is" auction. Upholstery is in great shape. All lights work The wipers work but the blades need to be replaced The heater works "A-oogah" horn. Trunk straps are cracked and probably should be replaced. The car starts and runs great It has current Oregon license and title. Buyer must make arrangements for pick up near Salem, Oregon
