Vehicle Detail

It's time to sell my wife's beloved XJS. We bought this car in May of 2002 when it had 59,825 miles on it. It has been my wife's daily driver ever since then until we bought her an XJ8 this past winter and she has really enjoyed owning it but honestly the car is a pain for her to get in and out of because it sits so low to the ground. I wanted to install some 24" rims on it but she declined my generous offer. I have attached an Excel file of all the repairs that have been done to the car since we have owned it. The only time it has been on a wrecker is when the fuel pump died. This car has always run and driven very well and she's a pleasure to drive on the highway. Some of the big things to note about the car are that it stills has the early style inboard rear brakes. The differential seals were leaking a few years ago so the rear end was removed, the output shafts were re-sealed and all of the brake caliper were rebuilt with new pads and discs installed at that time. This will sound odd but when I ordered the new rubber brake hoses I could not get the correct hose for the rear, every one I got was too short. So only the front hoses were replaced. The A/C compressor and evaporator have been replaced and the A/C works but it has never been very good. It cools just not like it should even though the system pressures are perfect. The heater works fine. There has always been a nagging leak from the convertible top at the front of the right door when it rains. The top has been adjusted and the seals have been replaced but the leak persists. The left tail light is broken, the power antenna is stuck in the up position and the radio has to warm up before it plays (haven't figured that one out either) and sometimes the radio forgets there is a CD changer in the boot (which works fine when it wants to). The electric door locks only work when they want to as well which is not very often. The top was replaced shortly after we bought the car and is in good shape but does need cleaning. A top boot and boot bag are included as well as a jack and tire tool, full sized spare (bought in 2008 with the other tires), the owners manual and a repair manual. You may notice that the 3rd brake light is missing, then lens broke a few years ago and at the time the only way to get the lens was to buy the entire light which may not be the case now but the light is included with the car. Also you probably noticed that the exterior trim has been plated gold but for the most part is wearing off. That was apparently done very early in the car's life and whomever did it was very thorough even plating the ashtrays and lug nuts. I just tell people the it's the Goldschlager edition XJS. The seats have been recovered but the carpets are getting tatty. The wood is in good shape except for the right door rail where that water leak is. The paint has been buffed through in several places as well so a paint job is in her future. She puffs smoke on startup in the mornings even though I replaced the valve seals in 2005 at 73K miles (which stopped it for quite a while). Finally the fuel gauge reads about 1/4 tank lower than the actual amount in the tank but the low fuel light is correct. She has a heart of gold but needs some TLC from someone who will enjoy her as much as we have. Please note that this has the lockable rear storage compartment rather than rear seats. Trust me you will get a lot more useage from the storage compartment than you ever would the seats. There is no rust on this car and as far as I know it has not been in an accident. I'm not sure why it says this car has an adjustable steering wheel in the listing (which was filled in automatically by Ebay) but it doesn't. I have an Excel file of all the services that were performed on this car since we have owned it that I will be happy to E-mail you if you are interested. I also have some records dating back to 1993 when the car was in St Louis that come with the car. Thanks for looking!
