Vehicle Detail

This car is being relisted due to a zero bidder hitting the BIN and never following up with me. Sorry for the inconvenience but I had to remove the "buy it now" option. Those of you who follow my auctions know that I am a Physical Therapist here in the Tucson, AZ area. I have a love for original, low mile and usually one-owner cars. The fact that I deal with a very large population of retired folks gives me a unique opportunity to locate some of the cleanest cars in the country. This little four-door Nova is a two owner car that was originally purchased in Sedona, AZ on August 11,1971. It remained with the original owner who retired here in Tucson until December of 2001. It was purchased by a couple for their son to drive while at college. He drove it only a few miles a day to school until he graduated and then the car sat in the garage only driven occasionally to keep things lubricated. At some point the second owner's son dressed up the engine with edelbrock valve covers and intake manifold and put a Holley 600 cfm on it. He also had true dual exhaust put on the car which still looks almost brand new. He also put on a chrome oil pan, chrome alternater bracket and a chrome Weiand air cleaner on the engine. It sounds and runs great and could easily be a daily driver. I will outline the car in more detail below: INTERIOR: The interior is all original and unmolested. The car was never equipped with carpet but had the low budget rubberized floor mat instead. Front and rear bench seat allows six passengers to travel in the car. The rear seat is in good shape but the front seat will need to be recovered. The original style upholstery is now available through several vendors. Headliner is in great shape as are all four door panels. The visors are both in great shape as well. It has cracks in the dash but these are now also available in many colors. All glass is in great shape. All doors open and shut perfectly except the right rear door which does stick just a little but hardly noticeable. All windows roll up and down perfectly and all doors lock as they should. Car was never smoked in and was not equipped with a cigarette lighter. The second owner installed a tri-pack of aftermarket gauges from Sunpro and they work well and look very nice. The AC is all there but there is no belt on the compressor so I don't know if it works or not. I have receipts that show AC service was done in 2004 but I have not tried to hook it up. The original radio is there but not working and I have not looked into that. Everything else is in good working order. The instrument cluster looks very nice with no fade of the orange needles and very bright and clear. The original owner's manual is in the glove box. It looks to still have the original windshield in the car as well with just one very small pit in the glass. It is a very comfortable ride and drives excellent. EXTERIOR: The body on this car is almost perfect. There are two very small dings in the rear deck lid and another small one on the driver's rear quarter. The paint is the original paint with the two tone paint scheme with the white top. The top is painted white, not a vinyl top. All the chrome on the car is in near perfect shape with the only exception being the rear bumper. The original owner backed into a pole and slightly bent the rear bumper on the left rear (see pics). The bumper is pushed in a little but did not come in contact with the body of the car. There is absolutlely no rust on this car anywhere. The original wheels and covers are in great shape. Tires are in great shape with about 75% tread left. Spare is in the trunk and is also in great shape and may be the original spare. The original jack and tools are all in place and look like they have not been used. All lights and turn signals work as they should. All doors lock and unlock with the original keys. MECHANICAL: I believe the motor is a 350 but I'm not sure. It fires right up and runs very strong. Trans is a 350 turbo automatic trans and shifts like it should with no hesitation. The car drives out nice and strong and straight and stops nicely with no pulling. It has power steering and it is a pleasure to drive. As mentioned above, all AC components are in place but I have not put a belt on the compressor to test it yet. Heater blows hot. The car will drip a few drops of oil on the driveway if left for extended periods but no major leaks. Does not overheat. Mechanically it really doesn't need anything to be driven daily. It drives nice and tight the way you would expect a low mile car to drive and the suspension rides nicer than my new cars! SUMMARY: This is just a really neat, low mile and well kept Nova. We all know the value of the Novas and I understand that the four door models don't have nearly the value of the two door models. But this car looks and drives very nice and gets a lot of compliments. The originality of the car is what gives it such value. It is a nice alternative to spending $20-30k on a two door model of this vintage and would make a fun family cruiser for very little money. If I were to keep it I would just put in a carpet kit and re-do the front seat and drive it like it is (maybe a dash or dash cover too). I hate to suggest this, but it could also be used for parts if you are restoring a two door model because all of the components on this little sedan are in excellent condition (hood, fenders, grill, front bumper, deck lid, glass etc, etc..). If you do fly in and drive this home I would be happy to pick you up at the Tucson airport. The car may be for sale locally so I do reserve the right to end the auction at anytime if it does sell locally. There is a $500 deposit due via Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Check out my feedback and bid with confidence. Good luck!On Oct-21-11 at 08:34:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to another eBayer I was able to identify that the engine is a 307 ci V8. Just wanted everyone to be informed of this. Also I have been getting questions on the paint and I wanted to verify that it is the original paint on the car, not just the original color. The car is 40 years old so the paint is not perfect but is still very presentable.
