Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 85 Honda CB700S. I bought it in July 2011 as my first bike. Upon taking it home, I stripped the bike to the frame, went over every connector/fastener/hose and cleaned/repaired/replaced/greased/anti-seized/loc-tited as necessary. The harness was re-taped, the fluids flushed and bled (as necessary - rear diff doesn't need "bleeding"), and a set of O.E. exhausts with new gaskets re-installed (as the previous owner had a single, aftermarket exhaust on it.) Many new assorted parts related to the exhaust were bought and installed. Any torn/worn boots were replaced. Any fasteners that needed replacing were grade 8 and torqued to specifications. Service manual is included. This has been my daily commuter, and I have put over 2500 highway/around town miles on it with zero problems. The good: Has new rear tire, good front tire, new plugs, wires cleaned and di-electric(ed), carbs cleaned/jetted to stock/synced (another previous owner tweak), new clutch plates, new O.E. air filter, clutch slave removed, inspected, and cleaned. New levers, new battery, new speedo cable, seat is in perfect condition, no second-gear issues related to the model, gauge cluster is in working order, including gear indicator, lenses are clear, newer mirrors, tool box is complete (but no tools), new clutch-lever bushing, wheels are perfect, fresh oil and filter change (running Amsoil 10w-40 synthetic motorcycle oil), no chain noise, absolutely, positively runs like a sewing machine (unlike my FZ6 which *sounds* like a sewing machine.) Has all it's body panels intact. No fluid leaks at all. I would call this bike 100% reliable, sans the fact it is 26-years old. The bad: She will need front pads, though there is still material on them. Rotors are not perfectly true, though I have had no problem with them except a slight pulsation under light braking. Left front fork will need a seal, though it is only *just* leaking - I had planned to do both seals, brakes, and head bearings (preemptively) before purchasing my 2007 FZ6. Actually seems to do better when the forks are charged @ 6 PSI, and they do hold. Cosmetics are poor - I am not a huge cosmetics guy, so it didn't bother me, but if you are, this bike will need some attention to detail in that regard. I'm a mechanical guy... The front tire is nearly new, but old from 2006, so some folks may want to consider a new one (I was satisfied with it's condition/performance.) Tank IS coated, but is showing signs of exterior rust. This bugs me, and though I have had no troubles, I was looking for a new tank (I am a little OCD that way.) A good shop could probably bring this one up to speed. Rear turn-signal stalks are cracked, but in one piece and currently wrapped in electrical tape to keep them that way. Odometer reset button has torn boot. *EDIT* With 26 years under it's belt, I'd probably do brake hoses, too. The ugly: Nothing that I can think of. Really only requires basic maintenance/repair noted above. Starts and runs like a champ, fast as heck, but easily managed in the lower RPM band, great around town, get 43 MPG all day long. She has seen two-up riding with zero problems. I will miss this motor as it sounds, runs, and feels superior to my 2007 FZ6, no kidding. Only selling it to help pay for the new bike (and get my wifey a first bike!) Current miles: 11,767 - I ride it a few miles once a week to keep it happy, so mileage may vary a bit Recent service: 11,626 - Oil/filter change, clutch plates, slave cylinder service I have receipts for all parts installed (sans the wonderful assortment of fasteners along the way.)
