Vehicle Detail

A rare opportunity to own this great restored 1951 Studebaker Champion Deluxe Regal Starlight Coupe. I purchased this car from “THE CARS OF DREAMS MUSEUM” in Florida. I have paperwork showing this car was John Staluppi’s personal car that was displayed in his museum, see photo of this car in the museum. A highly optioned car:completely restored 6 button AM radio, electric wipers, restored clock, working spot light, front and rear bumper guards, full dash with remote cables for vents, heater, etc; working heater and defroster, working turn signals, correct tissue dispenser, working hill holder, automatic transmission, more. I don’t think I have ever seen a more highly optioned 1951 Bullet Nose. All lights, horns, door locks, keys etc are in working order. Just won first place at the Gettysburg Studebaker zone in 2011, scoring 397 out of 400 points, the original judging sheet is included. It was the highest point car in its class of more than 20 cars. I have performed the following work: complete stage 3 full engine rebuild of original motor by Bill Cathcart’s Studebaker, transmission rebuilt, new: shocks, full wheel covers, radial tires, brakes, rebuilt; generator, carburetor, radiator, new: voltage regulator, fuel pump, plugs, wires, correct tar top battery and much more, over $13,000 in receipts. I have over $35,000 into this car, priced it fairly, so please no low ball offers. Drives like a new car, smooth riding, solid front end, can easily hold highway speeds with no vibrations. I drove this car to Gettysburg this year and averaged over 23 MPG at 65-70 MPH. There are approximately 1000 miles on the car since I performed all of the above work so you have no worries about breaking it in. I am only selling to make space for my next car; otherwise I would never sell it. Most of these cars are highly modified and turned into customs, street rods, etc. I chose to keep this car original. Cosmetically the car has had a new interior, new paint and new chrome , new wiring from a previous owner. Those items were already finished when I purchased the car from the museum. The paint is a modern Base Coat/Clear coat green metallic that gives this car an outstanding look vs. the original dark cherry paint. Many people at car shows admire this car. I have had this car on my lift for many hours and this is a rust free undercarriage. The frame is excellent, no rust, solid, no issues. I have done some detailing on the undercarriage. The engine bay is detailed to AACA standards. A high point is driving this car. It has a 3 speed Borg Warner automatic transmission which in drive starts out in second gear. I have found that starting off in 1st gear (which is perfectly ok to do) the car does run better from a dead stop. The front end is tight, car goes down the road straight, just a real fun and comfortable car to drive or show. The stage 3 engine rebuild along with a custom 2” stainless steel exhaust system increase the stock horsepower from 80 to about 110. I do run 93 octane gas. All glass is free af any cracks, windows roll down and up ok, paint is smooth and shinny, body is very nice showing minor imperfections that the camera could not get. Chrome is near perfect, an 8-9 out of a 10, good weather stripping and just installed NOS grills. I would not say this is a trailer car necessarily, but a way above average Studebaker that will be one of the nicest on the show field wherever you go. I have won many 1st place awards and people’s choice awards with this car. Car was filmed at a local car show in 2010 by a production company and is on YOUTUBE under summit car show 2010. This car would do well at an AACA meet, it is highly detailed. Sale includes all service and parts manuals, owner’s manual, museum documents, production order sheet, brochure, copies of receipts for all major work totaling over $13,000, see photo. I have a custom made $500 car cover that will go with the car along with some spare parts FOR THE BUY IT NOW PRICE ONLY. I have a clean NJ title. (Muppets are not included) Buyer is to have funds in hand, please do not bid unless you have the funds. As nice as this car is, I don’t believe there is such thing as a perfect car even when spending large sums of money, as such I make no claim this is a perfect car. There are some small scratches, minor body flaws that would not photograph, the passenger side windshield wiper does not always work, and after sitting for a few weeks the right front brake sometimes sticks for the first few feet, included with the purchase are two new front wheel cylinders to fix this issue. At low speeds under 15 MPH you can hear a minor noise coming from the rear end, this goes away at higher speeds. Included in the purchase is over $500 of complete new rear end and axle bearings, seals, and gaskets to repair this minor issue. I plan to have my mechanic install the front wheel cylinders and rear bearings, but currently he is booked up. If these two items are not repaired by time the auction ends I will take $500 of the final buy price which wll cover the labor for the wheel cylinders and rear bearings. The gauges do work except the temperature gauge was inaccurate, so I installed a high end mechanical water temperature gauge under the dash. Buyer is urged to schedule an inspection in person or hire a 3rd party inspector. Car is sold as is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied, all sales are final, no returns. No allowance , other than what is stated above , will be set aside for any defects, incorrectness, imperfections, damage, etc. Seller has made a diligent effort to describe this car; buyer is responsible to verify all information, car condition, etc. My feedback will tell you I am an honest seller. I can be reached on my cell at 908-963-4854 or via email. Please ask all questions before bidding, I will not be responsible if seller does not investigate all concerns, then buys the car, then is not happy. Keep in mind this is a 60 year old Studebaker, even though it has been restored.
