Vehicle Detail
1971 Plymouth Roadrunner unrestored survivor. Please don't think this is a project car. It needs no restoration work. I've owned this car for a little over 4 years and have put on 437 miles bringing it home after purchasing and taking in a few local shows. The only thing it needs is someone to enjoy it. Since purchasing, I've installed a new master cylinder, a correct replacement carb (original is included and I think I bought a rebuild kit for it), plugs, wires, oil change and it sleeps under a Covercraft custom cover that cost $500.00. Since I've owned it, it has never been rained on or drenched by a garden hose, just pampered and loved. It sits in my climate controlled garage attached to my home and is the highlight of my 'toy' collection. This is an L.A. built vehicle featuring a 383 automatic column shift, 3:55 gears and 15x7 rally wheels. The factory options include power steering, California noise reduction exhaust, power front disc brakes, Decor package, AM radio with rear seat speaker, inside hood release (which I believe was a new option for 1971) and the N96 vacuum operated Air Grabber hood scoop. The paint, according to a brochure I have is Bahama Yellow and also referred to as Butterscotch. The rear window louvers appear to be factory but the front and rear spoilers (A45 which is not on the fender tag), according to the previous owner are reproductions though the mounting all appears to be factory done. The fender tag breakdown is as follows and was obtained online from StockMopar.com: E65 - 383-4 Barrel Roadrunner/Superbee, D32 - H-D A-727 Torqueflite Trans, RM23 - R = Roadrunner, M = Medium, 23 = 2 Door Hardtop, N1E - N = 383 300HP 1-4BBL 8 Cyl, 1 = 1971, E = Los Angeles, Ca. USA, 106594 = Sequence Number '106594', EL5 = Paint Code: Butterscotch, N2X9 = N Class/Vinyl Bench/Black, TX9 = Upper Door Frame Black/Black Velvet, 916 = Date Built 9/16/1970, 040614 = Order Number, EL5 = Roof Type OR Color: Butterscotch, U = Built to Specs for USA Order, A87 = Roadrunner Decor Package, B51 = Power Assisted Brakes, J52 = Inside Hood Release, J55 = Undercoat with Hood Pad, M21 = Roof Drip Rail Moldings, N41 = Duel Exhaust W/O Tips, N96 = Fresh Air Hood, N97 = Noise Reduction Package, R11 = Music Master Radio AM, V21 = Performance Hood Treatment, V8X = Tranverse Stripe - Black, END = End of Codes This car was previously owned by Dante DiCarlo of Dante's Mopar Parts in New Jersey who purchased the car from a Canadian owner who had shown it at Carlisle. The car has had owners in Michigan and Canada but I never received any paperwork to support this. I saved the auction information from my original purchase in 2007 and the former owner had the original transmission rebuilt in April of that year by a Mopar transmission specialist. There is also a tiny chip in the windshield. I purchased the car based on what I saw, and it is just an outstanding, clean machine. This is a no rust vehicle and I mean no rust ever. There are a few small door dings and a few light chips and scratches here and there, but this is a car that you can drive and show with pride! It runs and drives great. It has fairly new Radial TA tires. The beauty of an un-restored car is what you see is what you get - NO SURPRISES, just a TRUE SURVIVOR. It's not perfect, but then again it's one of the finest 40 year old unmolested originals you will ever see available. I'm not an expert or a car collector. I owned one of the original 109 440-6 cars when I was a kid and lost it. I've always loved the styling and grace of the 1971 and this car is no exception. Please ask any questions as I'm sure an auto purchase always requires many. You can reach me at 630 858 4697 CST Chicago time or email me at alvannatta@att.net and I'll be glad to help if I can. I have a fair reserve on the car and it is also available for sale locally so serious buyers please keep that in mind. A deposit of $500.00 dollars is due immediately upon conclusion of the auction with the balance due by cash, certified funds or bank wire transfer within 5 days. Certified funds or wire transfer must be completed during regular banking hours. The title is clear and I own the car outright. It is currently insured through Hagerty insurance and is currently registered as an antique vehicle in Illinois. The car must be paid for in full before it leaves my possession. The car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS and WITH NO WARRANTY. Taxes, transfer fees, license and transportation costs are the BUYERS responsibility. The car is available for inspection by appointment just about anytime so please call to make arrangements. I strongly encourage you to come and look at the car before bidding. I have described the car the best I can but again, I'm no expert and what looks good to me may be unacceptable to you. If you choose to bid on it sight unseen, you do so at your own risk. Please remember you are bidding on this car to own it. I've already had a ton of 'lookers'. I do reserve the right to end this auction early. Zero and poor feedback ratings will be immediately rejected and blocked. If you're a zero, I would suggest you call me first so that I may approve you. If you would like to see the car, I'm about half an hour away from O'Hare Airport. Thanks for looking!
