Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is a beautiful black 1995 Formula Firebird. Options include a manual T6 Transmission, T-tops, trans-am hatch, and Bose 10 speaker sound system! This car has very minimal SURFACE rust on the body; it lived in Florida until about 4 years ago, and was stored during the Iowa winters (storage began as soon as the first snow fell). The only small surface rust spots are where some of the paint has chipped off (see below). For a car that is 15 years old it is in great condition! This car is quick and has plenty of style for anyone looking for an awesome muscle car. Here is a list of everything that is right, and wrong, with the car. Body - Looks great and solid! There is one small ding on the driver’s side rear--looks like a door ding. Otherwise, the body is very solid with no big dents, creases, or other damage. The only exception to the bodies' condition is that the passenger's mirror assembly is missing. It was removed during a homecoming weekend, it didn't damage the car but the plastic assembly that holds the mirror was damaged beyond repair--but the electronic connectors that lead into the car are in perfectly good condition (who needs passenger mirrors anyways?!). Paint - For a 15 year old car, the paint is great! The car was painted about three months before I purchased the vehicle (black on black with lots of clear), which puts the paint job at about 4 and a half years old. The biggest issue with the paint is that there is a spot missing paint on the front of the vehicle, along with some small chips. This happened because of some dumb technicians (when the transmission fork was installed) who lowered the bay door down on the nose. I can send you close up pictures upon request but I plan on covering up as much as I can with black spot filler. There is also a small door ding. Otherwise, the paint has normal wear and tear for scratches. The clear-coat on the REMOVABLE parts of the hood scoops is beginning to peel off--but since they only need 3 bolts to remove, they can be easily repaired. There is a slight long key-caused scratch down the side of the drivers' side, but you have to look very close to see it, I cannot even photograph it for you (the car has ALOT of clear coat layers, it was easy to permanently buff out). If you had this car professionally buffed and waxed you could get rid of any of the small scratches and this thing will SHINE like no other. Engine - RUNS GREAT! From my understanding of the previous owner, this is not the original engine in the vehicle--It was removed and rebuilt while the body had 160k miles on it, putting the engine's age to be just a bit over 40k. I was told there was a lot of performance improvements included in the rebuild, including a ported and polished set of heads and intake manifold. Additionally, the emissions systems were removed and the computer programming was changed to reflect more performance in the engine. I was also told that the engine was bored to a 383 stroker--I didn't do it myself but it wouldn't surprise me at ALL if that were the case. This car ran 12.1 seconds in the quarter mile---the car is more than a full second off of the stock run time. Additionally, it is equipped with a K&N air filter, as well as a larger throttle body. I have driven stock LT1's, and this thing definitely blows those out of the water. Even with all the performance, I can still manage 19 MPG city and about 23-25 MPG on the highway. This car is a great daily driver but can definitely be let loose, and quick, if that’s what you are looking for! Half of the injector wiring harness was rebuilt about a year ago when a rabbit decided to chew up a bunch of the wires. It works great and delivers the same voltage to the injectors as an OEM wiring harness, without needing to spend 700 dollars. All in all, this engine runs GREAT--it starts up very fast, drives even faster, and can start without any issue in freezing temperature weather. Even with the vehicles performance, it has never reached past 4500 RPM while I have owned it---and the engines health reflects this, it wouldn't surprise me if it ran another 120k! Oh--almost forgot, the engine has a magnaflow exhaust system with a manual exhaust cutout for track-racing. Drivetrain - The transmission was replaced with a transmission from a 1997 trans-am (there was a bent rod in the original after 190K miles), it had only 30k miles on it when it was put in the car about 10k ago, so the transmission is only 40,000 miles old! It has a Hurst short throw shifter and shifts great! There is no scraping or hesitation while shifting. The transmission fork was replaced over the summer when it broke under normal driving conditions--it was replaced with OEM parts from GM (I replaced the slave cylinder at the same time). The drive shaft was replaced with an aluminum drive shaft a couple years ago; I had it balanced out to greatly reduce shaking at high way speeds that the steel-driveshafts are associated with. When I replaced the driveshaft, I also replaced the u joint on the rear end. The differential doesn't leak, and is equipped with 3.73 gears--they work great! The only "downfall" of the new gears is that the speedometer is about 5-10 miles off of actual speed. The starter was replaced about a year ago as well after the old one started kicking out. There are no problems with this drivetrain at all. Brakes / Wheels / Tires - All the brakes work great, I have drilled and slotted rotors on all four tires---there is a definite improvement over the stock brake calipers and rotors. The ABS works just fine--occasionally the light will come in the interior but I think it’s just the light going bad (it seems to happen with large temperature variances, during the summer and winter seasons). The wheels are aluminum with powder coated black paint--they are GENUINE FIREHAWK rims. I have three out of four of the centercaps available now, I may have the fourth in storage somewhere--I will include them all with the car (I removed them because people kept trying to steal them). They actually screw onto the wheels with black metal covers to cover up the lugs. Two out of the four wheels are in great condition, just basic wear and tear, they look great! One of the wheels has a small crease on the side of it from someone bending the rim--It isn't noticeable unless you look closely and it was still able to be balanced just fine. The fourth rim isn't bent or anything, but it does have some curb damage---just paint, with a bit of sanding and powder coating, it would look brand new! The center-caps are in OK condition, some of the paint is peeling off of a few of them, but masking tape and black spray paint can easily fix that. Two out of the four tires are in great condition; they are about a year and a half old. The other two tires should probably be replaced in the next few thousand miles, but they still work great in the rain. The tire size is 275 40 15. Lights / Glass - All the lights in the car work great! I unplugged the one light motor to constantly keep the lights up. The second motor is bad and needs to be replaced, but it doesn't affect the lights at all---they are just always up. With a new motor it’s just a few bolts and 2 connectors to get them working again. I personally like them being up the whole time. The running lights and brake lights work just fine--as do the Brights. One of the tail-lights has a small hole in it when someone tried to bust it with a screwdriver, but it is covered up by the dark tail-light covers on the back of the car. All of the glass is in good condition. The two side windows used to be tinted until I got multiple tickets regarding it--so I had to remove it. There is very little residue left from the glue on the windows, but can be removed with some goo-b-gone from Wal-mart. The windshield looks fine, it has 2 scratches on the front where someone forgot to put the windshield wipers back on, but they are not in the line of sight at all, you don’t even see them while you’re driving--and they aren't cracks, so they aren’t harmful to the integrity of the windshield. The rear window is great, still tinted and great condition. Same goes with the T-Tops, they are in great condition, locking mechanisms still work--and they don’t leak water unless there is HEAVY rain or if a powered car wash is sprayed right on the seam of the window and seals. The driver and passenger windows go up and down very slowly and occasionally trip the breaker and will stop moving without assistance. This is a VERY common problem with Firebirds and there are many workarounds that wire the window motors directly to the battery (the motors are 2 years old, I replaced them once they started slowing down). Interior - For a 15 year old car, heck--even a 5 year old car, the interior is in great condition! The carpets are in fine condition, no major stains or tears--just normal wear and tear. The leather seats in both the front and the back are in great condition, there is one small rip in the driver’s side seat, but it hasn't gotten any bigger over 3 years. As for the plastic trimming, some of it is slightly faded due to 200k miles worth of sunlight. Some of the rear plastic trimming has been scratched, but still looks just fine! The plastic mounts in the hatch of the car that hold the T-Tops are in great condition, they work great and the T-tops don’t move around at all while cruising! There is no radio for the car--the stock CD player was removed a few years back but they are available on eBay for next to nothing. All of the speakers work great and the antenna picks up on just about everything else that my other car can. The dashboard has two small cracks in it---but they haven't gotten any bigger due to some great (and invisible) high quality super-glue that melted the plastic back together. The headliner was replaced out of a wrecked 1997 Firebird that had only about 20k miles on it, so it is in GREAT condition. A lot of these cars have the headliner hanging down when the glue gets old, but this one is 100% still stuck on, no parts of it have weakened or started to droop. The sensor for the coolant is going out and will occasionally illuminate the low coolant light (the coolant level is fine and is not leaking at all). The ABS sensor does the same thing, but its not a common occasion. The e-brake doesn't work and the light is almost illuminated full time (again, i will provide pictures on request). I know it’s a lot of information; I just want to be thorough! PLEASE email me with any questions regarding ANY part of the car I may have missed. If you want pictures of anything in particular, feel free to email me and I will get them to you that day. The car can be shipped ONLY if the winner organizes everything (and pays for it obviously). I can transport the vehicle up to 200 miles outside of my area for .50 cents a mile if the buyer wants (weather Dependant). The successful high bidder is required to submit a $1000 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of the close of the auction in order to secure the vehicle. If this is not followed without previous knowledge, I WILL give the car to the 2nd highest bidder. Buyer agrees to pay the remaining balance upon the pickup of the vehicle within 10 days after the end of the auction. I can store the vehicle outside until December 2nd, but payment must still be completed 10 days after the auction ends. This car runs great--but with any used item, the car is being sold as-is with no guarantees. ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING! If you fail to ask all questions before bidding and you win, you are responsible for completing the transaction. Email me with any questions or I will provide my phone number and address if you would like to come take a look at it. Thanks all for looking and good luck! ** In reference to the vehicle report, the accident(s) in question is actually ONE accident that damage the front end, the only damage parts was the body panels which were replaced (the nose and the hood were the only damage / replaced parts)**
