Vehicle Detail
I've had this car for over 3 years and I've maintained it religiously until 6 months ago. I've put over $10,000 in repairs and maintenance over the years (tuneup, transmission changes) so the drive train is excellent. I've also almost exclusively taken my Saab to mechanics specializing in Saabs (Charles River Saab, JR's Import Cars, etc). I have all of the work documentation. About six months ago, a car hit me on the side while merging into my lane (he didn't see me). The side of the car was damaged as well as the LR headlight and control arm I believe. At this time, I took the car to JR's Import Cars (A Saab specialist) in Edgewater, NJ where he quoted me about $1000-2000 (depending on how much body work I wanted to bring the car up to i.e, simply able to run or perfect). I didn't have the cash so I just had him bolt the side of the car up, replace the headlight so it could run it back home and use it until I found another car. I didn't have the money at the time (nor do I have it now) to repair the car I was planning on fixing it and using it once I had the money but I am now moving to NYC and do not need a car or any form of motorized transport and as such am selling the Saab. The car has 144,000 miles but I can very well forsee it running to 200,000 and beyond. I had the DI cassette replaced, serp belt, pulleys, mounts amongst numerous other things done over the years. Always had the oil changed (Earlier Saab 9-5's had a sludging problem if you used conventional oil) with Mobil 1 Synthetic at 3,000 miles. It truly hurts to see the car go but I'm a student and quite simply can't afford garaging a car in the city. As a note however, the car does not run at the moment. It has been sitting for awhile and the battery is dead. Also, one of the front tires are flat as I had it patched on the ride back, it needs to be replaced. The other front tire probably needs to be changed fairly soon (within 10,000 miles?). The two rear tires have good tread (all tires are bridgestone turanzas). I tried jumping the car but the starter will click but not start - maybe the fuel lines will probably need to be flushed (not an expensive job) amongst other things I believe. You should fully expect to tow the car. Again, I'm not looking to make a profit and for a low price and a little work, you can get a really good running, reliable Saab.
