Vehicle Detail
1974 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Big Valve with less than 100 miles on a Total Restoration Without a doubt, this is the best example of this milestone automobile, to be found ANYWHERE. I purchased the "project car" in 2000-2001 and had Evans Leinbach, of Salisbury, North Carolina complete a better-than-original, ground up restoration. This restorer is a rock star. Evans did all of the fiberglass work, paint, mechanicals and had the interior done by his folks that do all of his Lotus restoration work, which is pretty much all that he does. The results of the three year+ project can be appreciated in the attached photographs. The car is somewhere between a 98 and 100 point concours car. That said, this car really should be driven and enjoyed. I took delivery of this magnificent car sometime in 2003, early 2004. At the time, I owned nine cars and drove the Europa less than 60 miles during the three years and a half that I owned it. Frankly, I was afraid to drive the car and have it then be a 95 point car. I sold the car to a collector from Connecticut. Recently, he called me to ask if I would like to buy the car back from him. He had put less than ten (10) miles on the car since he purchased the car from me. He still has the clear Missouri title that I gave him at the time of purchase and he never titled the car in Connecticut. I told him that I would sell the car for him. I know the car and its history much better. I also have some of the pre-restoration photographs. The build sheets, time sheets and in-process photographs were given to the present owner. If you ever wanted to own a Europa Twin Cam, but did not want to deal with poor restoration attempts, non-OEM parts, crazed fiberglass and poor original build quality that plagued many of the early Lotus cars, then this car is your car. There were no compromises made during this restoration, so there are no apologies to be made whatsoever. The reserve price is set well below what I sold it for. The current owner stated his need to sell the Europa in three words; private college tuition. Good luck bidding and please e-mail me with any questions you may have about this amazing automobile.
