Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa convertible with a Factory Turbo Charger, 180 HP, flat six cylinders, four speed transmission with 89,000 original miles. Don't just buy an old corvair, buy a rare one. This is a "true survivor" and a solid investment car. The '66 Corsa 180-Turbo convertible is the rarest Corvair ever made. There were only 585 Corsa 180 Turbo convertibles produced in 1966, which was the final year of production and 2,101 in 1965. Those were the only two years they were made. In addition to that this corvair has more options than any other I have ever seen. It has been off the road since 1974 and I have documents to prove it. This car is from the Albert Stanski collection in New Jersey. He had a collection of thirty rare cars for 30+ years. He owned this one for 35 years. It was in Mr. Stanski's dry storage facility all those years, registered and insured and was always started and driven a few times per year. This color, Aztec Bronze (exterior and interior) is the rarest of all for any Corsa and was only available in 1966. It has a white convertible top. The vehicle has never been in an accident and is in great condition. Floors and trunk are all original panels and rock solid. Doors do not sag. Convertible top pads, well and window are new. All stock Corsa spinner hubcaps are exceptionally nice. Bumpers are in good shape with no dents and the chrome shines nice. New wheel well moldings. Rear air vent is mint and shines nice. Perfect headlight bezels. Nose chrome, door handles and original antennae are very nice. The interior is bone stock and perfect. Original seat covers, door panels, carpets and armrests are all mint. The original Aztec Bronze rubber floor mat is in great shape. Dash pad has no cracks. No splits in the seats. Dash paint perfect and original. The tach, speedo, charging and temp gauges all work. The gas gauge sometimes goes on the blink. Interior lights, glove box and dash lights all work. All the T-3 headlights and tail lights work. Windows crank nicely. Every piece of interior chrome has been polished and shines like new. Front and rear seat belt chrome and fabric are flawless. Radio turns on and makes noise, but I think there is a problem with the speaker. Drive train: Flat six cylinder engine with a factory turbo charger (180 HP). Numbers match. It has the late 1966 4-speed transmission. Very powerful lightweight little 2,400 pound car. Engine chrome is perfect. Four wheel independent suspension is in good shape and the car sits level. Carb and turbo are rebuilt. Front end feels nice and tight. Transmission shifts with ease. All the lights work, horn, wipers and the power top work great (very rare option). Options (Most are extremely rare): Corsa 180 Turbo, Convertible, 4 speeds, Power top - factory GM electric powered not the troublesome hydraulic system, remote controlled drivers side view mirror, soft ray tinted glass, tissue dispenser, original spinner spoke hubcaps, factory retractable spring loaded front seat belt, boot, rear seat belts (front and rear seat belts are all original bronze), rear antennae, factory trunk light, factory engine compartment light, bumper guards, original aztec bronze floor mat in good shape, gas guard, factory front wind spoiler, AM radio with push button, two speed wipers and washers, glove light box, automatic shut off directional, padded dash, factory undercoating option, all four original T-3 headlights. Vehicle condition: This is a survivor vehicle in excellent shape. There are some scratches on the bumpers, few pits on outside mirror, no spare tire, one panel in drivers seat was replaced with the original factory GM vinyl. Sometimes a small grind when shifting into fourth gear too fast.
