1972 Amc SportAbout Gucci 304 V8 Engine 2 Barrel Carberator 80 percent Rubber, But the tires are starting to show there age with slight cracking and drying out! 3 speed automatic Transmission Front disc Breaks "converted from 4 way Drum" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_Hornet#SC360 In the 5 years ive owned it, its moved me 3 times, we have gone camping with it multiple times. Drove it Kansas city, Marquette, Help my friend move from salina to lindsborg. Its been a pretty good car and still is. I keep this car drivable and fixed up so I can use the car. I use it every week at least twice to haul computers from my shop to home so I can work on them, and haul them back to my shop. I prefere a stationwagon to do this. The work I have done do it. I Converted the Breaks to Front Disc breaks, Using the parts off of a 1975 amc sportabout. When I did the work I installed new wheel bearings, New break pads "of course", New master cylender, Break Hoses, and replaced the break pedal. I removed the power breaks off the car to do this and it does not have power breaks any more. Ive never been a fan of power breaks. This was done 3 years ago. I had a new exaust installed on the car by a guy that had done mufflers for 20+ years, He does fabulus work. Dual Exaust 2 inch pipe with 21 inch glass packs. All bent and welded together except for the mufflers. Last fall the water pump started to leak a bit, I put a new water pump on and hoses and belts, I also replaced the damged Ac core with one I had pulled off a 63 ramber trying to get the ac to work, I also replaced the Ac pump with the pump I had pulled off the 63 ramber a york compressor, Unfortunatly the replaced pump is almost shot and does not cool down much. This spring I installed new points, roter, and plugs. Later come to find out the bottom of the tank was totaly rotten! I replaced the tank off of another junk amc out in the junk yard. How ever the neck wasnt quite the same. It fit my wagon but the neck angle is off about 10 degrees, If you fill the tank to full you will get gas fumes in the cab. If you fill the tank to 3/4 it does not do that. I still have the orginal hornet gas cap in the trunk, I left the locking cap on there in fear of losing the orginal. This summer I replaced the heater core and the blower motor, I also manufactured 3 new cables for the controls for the flaps, I oiled the crap out of the acutal heat on and off cable, all the controls work find but the heat on and off, I couldnt make a good replacement for that and it has slid out of the retention bracket in the dash. I just pop the hood and turn my heat on. The ciggerette lighter works and the am radio. I have all the paper work for the last 3 years of this card. The recept for acution of my buying the car. The Salina Municiple court ticket for the noise violation. Wheel bearing boxes for the part numbers. All Oreilly tickets for the oil changes parts and fluids ive put in it. The headlight violation. Witch is all included. I have the fenders bumpers and impact shocks for the bumper off of a 1975 amc sport about. I will include all that as well. The car runs really good it will light the tires up pretty good, It does have blow by when you first start it. The choke sticks a little when you first start it, when its been running for a few minutes it runs really good. If you have any questions please email me! Thanks for looking!
