Vehicle Detail
I am selling my wife's 1981 Mercedes 380sl roadster. We purchased the car in August 2007 from a dealer in Houston. From the CarFax report I believe we are the fourth owner. The car is in very good original condition. It is always garaged and she drives it on average of once a week as it is just a weekend car while using her 3 series BMW the rest of the time. About the only time I drive it is to put gas in it. I am a muscle car guy as you can tell if you look at my selling history before we purchased this car. My wife was always afraid to drive those cars as she knew how much work I put into them so I decided to get something she would be comfortable in. I can count on one hand the number of times I have actually washed the car since we've had as it has never been driven in bad weather. It gets wiped off once a week. The Mercedes is very original and since we have owned it I have put a muffler, water pump, and auxiliary cooling fan on it. Right after we bought it I also installed the chrome Mercedes wheels and new tires. The paint is original and very good with a only a couple of repaired rock chips which I tried to depict in the photos. I put other to describe the color as it is the classic Mercedes cream color. I also put a new hood badge on the hood. Vehicle has never been in an accident or has been damaged that I'm aware of and verified on the Car Fax report. It does not have any rust. The hardtop is also in very good condtion other than some discolorization in the lower right corner which is covered with a small flag. The soft top is also in very good condition other than two about one inch tears in the side plastic windows from being in storage. All the glass is in excellent condition and the electric windows work fine. The interior is in excellent condition with no cracks or tears in the upholstery or dashboard or carpet. The engine nor the transmission have any issues as it starts and runs fine. The odometer read 43027 when we purchased the car but did stop working about six months after we bought the car. I can only estimate she has put about 4000 miles on the car since we have had it. You should be able to tell it has low mileage by looking at the overall condition of the car as well as the CarFax report. All other guages operate fine including the electric antenna. AC works fine, I have had to recharge the freon every other year probably because it is not driven enough. I did convert the AC to accept R134. I replaced the Decker factory radio with an AM/FM/CD player but still have the Decker. The hardtop carrier/rack as shown as well as the hardtop removal winch comes with the car. This is a nice car for someone interested in owning one. I have convinced my wife to let this one go in return for a new style Camaro and we will both be happy. I have tried to be as complete as possible in desribing the car but encourage anyone interested to come and look at the vehicle or at least call me for more information 806-773-9050. The buyer is responsible for shipping if you don't want to drive it home but I would be more than happy to help in any way I can. Thanks for looking
