This Mustang was restored as a Shelby inspired GT 350H Replica and has evolved to what is now a Shelby inspired Replica/Restomod. The vehicle is powered by a Ford Racing SVO “High Performance” 302 ci, 340 hp "Crate Motor" backed up by a “gas friendly” Tremec T-5, 5 Speed manual transmission and delivers its power to the ground through a heavy duty, mechanical linkage clutch and 9 inch Currie rear end with a 3:50/1 ratio Trac-Lock differential. Considering the vehicle’s approximate 8.5 pound per horsepower power to weight ratio this is a "very fast" car and a REAL "Head Turner"!This 45 years “young” vehicle is solid, dependable and although perhaps just a bit “too nice” to do so, could easily make a reliable and fun daily driver. The vehicle’s restoration was begun in late 2001 and completed in early 2002 and was originally trimmed out to replicate a Shelby GT 350H, Hertz Rental Car Edition. I purchased the vehicle in March of 2003 with 823 “post restoration” miles on the” clock” and have owned and enjoyed the vehicle for 8 years this past March. The vehicle’s “post restoration” mileage is now at less than 2200 (see ODO picture in this listing). These added miles were accumulated predominantly in driving to and from car shows, cruise nights, weekend cruising and service appointments. While in my possession the car has never been involved in any traffic or other accidents nor has it had any type of major mechanical failure. Essentially, the vehicle is in as good of condition as the day I took delivery. I did take a great “leap of faith” when I bought this vehicle “sight unseen” and except for photographs the previous owner had posted "on line" and the information they provided to me via e-mail and phone calls the first time I saw the vehicle was the day I took delivery from the shipper. I was not and have never been disappointed with this car from the moment the delivery service turned over the car’s "throaty" 302 engine and backed it off the truck into the Colorado “mile high” mid-day sun. A stunning "head turning" vehicle then (many thumbs up on the first drive home) and remains, even more so, a stunning "head turner" today, hundreds of "thumbs ups" later. In early 2008, after watching, as well as appreciating, the ever increasing Restomod popularity in “Muscle Car” restoration I made the decision to further modify the vehicle to achieve a more “modern day” Restomod appearance while at the same time retaining the vehicle’s overall Shelby inspired, classic Mustang “Pony Car” look. The vehicle’s exterior is finished in a high gloss Ford “Bright Atlantic Blue” with “Gold Dust” Shelby “over-the-top” Le Mans stripes and "Gold" GT 350H side stripe decals. The over-the-top stripes are paint applied and then over coated with clear coat to achieve a “ridge-less to the touch” feel. A spare set of new “Gold” side stripe decals is included with the vehicle and, if desired, can be used to modify the current side stripe GT 350H designation to GT 350 or to a solid side stripe with no model designation. My plan was to replace the “H” with a “C” (By modifying the “G”) to signify my "personally created" GT 350C “Cobra Edition”. At the time of its restoration the vehicle’s interior replicated the Shelby GT 350H interior trim scheme. The one exception is the air conditioning. As part of my Restomod changes in 2008 I added “Procar” Rally Recliner, deep bolstered bucket seats. The “Procar” seats have "tons" of lateral support and are immensely more stylish and comfortable than the stock Mustang bucket seats. This is a great drivability improvement if you are an aging "Senior Gear-Head" like me. At the same time I added a “Pony Interior” full door panel kit and “Hump Hugger” center console with a Shelby Cobra badge. The “fold down” rear seat is still trimmed out with base Mustang upholstery installed new during the restoration. For the buyer who may wish to use the rear seat and desires matching upholstery I am including with the vehicle brand new, in its unopened box, “Procar” Rally rear seat upholstery. I just never got around to having the “Procar” upholstery installed because for me the car has always been a “2 seater”. All of the exterior and interior upgrades I have performed, excepting the "American Racing Equipment" Cobra Wheels and BFG Tires, were completed with parts, components and materials I purchased new from “Mustangs Unlimited”. The vehicle’s numerous other features are itemized later in this listing by specific category: exterior, interior, power and driveline, chassis, wheels and tires, engine bay, trunk and safety. The vehicle has always been garaged and driven mostly during the summer months. During the winter months the vehicle was driven only when weather permitted and roads were clear and dry. The vehicle has been caught in rain once while returning from a car show. I am a non-smoker and the car still smells new inside. As a reminder to all potential buyers, all classic and collector cars are inherently ongoing “projects” and the new owner of this vehicle, to suit their personal needs and preferences, will most likely further modify the vehicle. For example, I never got around to installing “tunes”. The vehicle comes with a period correct Ford AM, pushbutton radio, but has no under dash-mounted speaker. I have never attempted to determine whether or not the radio is functional. For me, the "tune" of the 302 as "sung" through the Flowmasters was more than adequate "listening enjoyment".As this is not a sale involving “numbers matching” or any need for authenticating Shelby registry there is minimal documentation available for the vehicle. With the exception of the work that I have personally performed or I had performed by an automotive retail resource, the majority of the facts I have related in this listing regarding the vehicle’s restoration and equipment I obtained from the seller at the time I purchased the vehicle 8 years ago. In the time I have owned the vehicle I have found no reason to doubt the previous owner’s claims. Although this vehicle is extremely well restored it has been driven both by the previous owner and myself and it is not without a very few minor flaws. There are three areas of paint flaws that were present when I purchased the vehicle, 1) the passenger side headlight surround has a small stone chip, 2) the passenger side fender has a small touched up area along it's trailing edge adjacent to the windshield’s lower bright metal trim, and 3) there is a small area of very small bumps between the driver side fastback roof’s trailing end and the trunk opening. My sense is this is a paint flaw that occurred when the car was painted at the time of restoration and is NOT the result of any rust related issues. I say this with confidence as this area hasn’t changed in appearance during the 8 years I have owned the vehicle. Finally, the driver side vent wing seal does not fully seat when closed and latched and again I just never got around to addressing this issue.
