Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is an original Van Nuys California built blue plate 1972 Chevy Nova SS K-code 350 4bbl 4 speed bench seat project. Car was deliverd to Tam Chevy in Chico California and stayed there it's whole life until I bought it and brought it to Redding. Was owned by an old lady who had owned it since 1974 until 3 years ago when she sold it to the gentleman I purchased it from. Car has been off the road for 12 years as indicated by the 99 sticker on the original blue plate. Odometer is showing 54419 miles(have know way of veryfying as original). Has power disc brakes and manual steering. Has numbers matching 350 engine. I have the factory build sheet which indicates the transmission as M20 4-speed. Which should be a wide ratio muncie. But transmission in car currently is a saginaw 4-speed(not sure if M20 designates wide ratio saginaw in 72 do your homework). Rear end appears to be original with factory 3:42 gears non posi(as stated on build sheet). Out of 349,000 novas made in 1972 only a little over 12,000 were Super Sports, and of that only about 5000 came equipped with a 4 speed. That makes this one pretty rare bird. Car is also optioned with factory tinted glass kinda rare for a non-A/C car. Factory remote drivers mirror and in dash clock. Body is super solid. Has all it's original sheetmetal no patch panels anywhere! Hardly any dents overall(bodymans delight).Had a black vinyl top originally and has some pretty heavy pitting and has a couple small holes coming through, but definately savable not in need of new skin. Back lower section of rear window was rusted I have a new goodmark replacement panel needs welded in. Slight rust on lower left rear corner of window as shown in picture no rust around front window. Only a few small holes in trunk. Has some rust scaling would clean up with a wire wheel and apply por 15. Pictures make trunk look worse than it is(surface rust from standing water in trunk) it is still very solid not thin. Bottom rear sections of quarters and extensions where normally rusty are mint as well as bottom of front fenders lower edges of doors cowl area all mint. Inside floors are perfect no rust through only surface rust. Previous owner removed front clip and set it aside, neighbors tree fell on it causing the slight damage to lower left fender and top center of core support both could be fixed or replace). Car has been sitting for over ten years engine will run with gas poured in carb. Everything is hooked up clutch feels good needs brakes wouldnt take much to get this car back on the road. Very straight body only appears to have been repainted once with original code 75 cranberry red. Quarter panels are about the most solid and straightest I have seen. Some fiberglass repair work to front underside lip of hood but otherwise hood is very nice. Deck lid is good as well as doors. I have the back window and original spare tire not shown in pictures. No windshield. Clear California title on current non-op no back fees. Call Dean at (530)953-6092 for more information.
