Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1997 BMW Z3 convertible. I bought the car in the beginning of the summer to use at the beach. If I can sell the car for a reasonable price to mitigate storage and insurance costs until next summer, I will do so, otherwise I will just keep it. The car is in good working order. I had the intake air valve replaced when I first got it and otherwise no other mechanical work has been needed. For some reason the air bag light is turned on, as it was when I purchased the car, but I can assure you, as the previous owner did to me, that the air bags have NEVER been deployed. For a fee you can either purchase a tool to turn the light off or take it to a BMW dealer. The car passed NY state inspection in April and drives very well. As you can see from the pictures, from five feet, the body of the car is in good shape. There is a scratch on the front hood that was there when I bought the car. There are also several chips on the hood as well as two dings on the front bumper and a few minor dings on the doors -- nothing really beyond normal wear and tear for a 15 year old car and all fully shown in the pictures. In addition, one of the BMW emblems is faded and the paint job on the base of the driver side mirror is bubbling, likely due to a poor previous paint job. There is no material rust anywhere throughout the car. I have been quoted between $500 and $1000 to bring the body of the car in to excellent condition. The convertible top of the car is in good condition HOWEVER, as shown in the pictures, the back window is coming apart at the seems. I honestly don't know if this requires just a new window or a new top. I suspect it is a new top and I will do this myself if I can not sell for a reasonable price. I believe an aftermarket top with a sewn in window is about $300-$500 and an OEM top with a zip-in window (what is currently there) is about $1100. I never drive with the top up, so this has not been a concern for me. I believe that is all the good and bad. Please let me know if you have any further questions or would like any additional pictures.
