Vehicle Detail
Up for auction with no reserve is my 1987 Mustang LX 5.0 T-Top hatchback. These cars are getting very hard to find, especially a T-Top car in this kind of condition. This car is exceptionally clean with no rust! The pics show how nice it really is. The bottoms of the doors, the bottom of the hatch and even the floors are in incredible condition for the age. I am a Ford tech and rarely see Mustangs from the mid to late 90s that have undercarriages that look this nice! The car was painted before I got it and isnt show quality, but is very nice and has a great shine. The hood on the car now was not painted for this car and is a shade darker, but still looks great on it. The interior needs some TLC. Someone replaced the carpet but it doesnt fit well. The center dash vent was removed for guages that the previous owner had installed, and it had a tach mounted on the dash. The seats show normal wear for the year and could use a good cleaning. I bought it a year ago with no engine or transmission. I took a stock 5.0 from a Mustang and built a nice little stroker for the street. It is bored .030 over with a Forged Eagle stroker crank and rods and JE pistons and comes in at 325 inches and 10.5 to 1 compression. I topped it with GT 40 P heads that were hand ported and fitted with a Trick Flow spring and retainer upgrade kit and Cobra roller rockers. The intake is a Trick Flow Street Burner intake with a 70 mm throttle body. The cam is a small Comp Cams nitrous grind roller that is very streetable and runs great! The exhaust consists of stainless Ford Racing shorty headers, an H pipe and Flowmaster cat back. The fuel system will support anything you want to do with this engine. It starts with a 03 Cobra tank with 2 Walbro 255 litre pumps. They are connected to a -8 bung on top of the tank and feed a -8 line to the billet rails and return through the top of the tank with a -6 line. The injectors are 24 lb. Ford Racing and the mass air is a Professional Mass Air Systems unit calibrated for the injectors. The car was originally a 5 speed car and still has the pedals in it, but I had an AOD built with a shift kit and a 2800 stall billet convertor. It is controlled by a B&M Console Hammer Shifter for precise control. There were already a heavy duty set of subframe connectors and 4:10 gears in the car when I bought it. The suspension is all stock. I bought it as a project and built it for nitrous, but have lost interest due to other projects. It runs strong and has only about 15 or 20 miles on the engine, trans and fuel system! It could still use a little fine tuning on the fuel pressure and timing, and needs a high torque starter since it tends to crank slow when it warmed up. In conclusion, what your looking at is a very clean, hard to find T-Top Mustang with all the major work done and all the mig money items already handled. With a few more details taken care of you will have a quick, clean, rare Mustang you can be proud of! Thanks for looking and good luck!
