Vehicle Detail
1956 Packard Clipper Super With 72604 original miles I have an antiquity company in the middle of Texas. We specialize in fine antiques and collectibles. Once in a while my customers turn in a classic automobile or motorcycle. This is one of those items: We received this Packard from a widow of a car collector. The Packard was part of a collection and was parked indoors in a climate controlled environment for 1981. We wanted to be sure that the Packard is running so we sent it out to a specialist mechanic. The mechanic did the following: He removed the gas tank and sent it out to be boiled. He replaced the fuel pump. He changed the oil and oil filter. He rebuilt the carburetor. He installed a new battery. He replaced the brake cylinder on all four wheels. He replaced the power booster and master cylinder and mounted a new brake reservoir. (They call this a Packard Power Brake Conversion. We kept the original brakes and they will go with the car.) He bled the brakes. He replaced the rear brake shoes and brake line. We have over $2,000 worth of receipts for material and labor; these receipts will go with the car. Now the Packard runs, drives, and stops. Please remember that it is still over 50 years old and some areas have aged accordingly. It is absolutely solid as it is a Texas car. You can enjoy it as is or continue with the restoration to bring it up to a show room quality. The Packard has a V- engine 350… It is automatic with air-conditioning (ARTIC-KAR in the trunk). The air-conditioner belt was missing and we haven’t replaced it yet. The inside is almost perfect; the outside paint has aged and could use a good paint job in the future. The chrome is in very good shape. The corner of front windshield and the driver’s side window, have a crack in them. All the electronics inside such as the lights and signals work, even the power antenna works, but the radio doesn’t work. The car has a wheel- skirt The car has a clear Texas title “All the inspections must be done before the auction closes.” Remember that this antique car is 53 years old. Please remember that things always look better in pictures. So you are more than welcome to come see it in person. I’m into antiquities and I don’t know that much about automobiles in detail. Please come and check it as I am expressing how I see the vehicle. Your bid is your contract. Please place bids only if you are serious about buying the item. If you are the winning bid, you are entering into a legal binding contract to purchase the item.
