Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Stunning Restored 1949 MG TC This is a very nice 1949 MG TC that was built on March 22, 1949. It is one of 494 built near the end of production as an official EXU export model for North America and came with more than a dozen different features including built in turn signals. Still right hand drive though. This wonderful car has had a full frame up restoration about 30+ years ago and has been lovingly maintained and cared for since. History in known since 1971. For more photos please go to: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AYtGrNk3ctWLF8A The body sheetmetal is straight and smooth and the body is finished in dark British Racing Green. The paint is in excellent condition and does not appear to be 30 years old. It was obviously high quality workmanship using first class materials and it has stood up very well and is smooth and shiny. There are a few small chips here and there and a tiny spot of checking on top of one door as a testament to its use over the years. The XPAG engine is the original engine for this car with the engine number 8999 matching the identification plate. The car is 8242EXU. It runs strong and smooth and one of the driest I have seen. There is a minor drip from the sump after being driven as is usual for these cars. The engine starts easily with the choke and goes to a smooth idle. It is a willing performer and great fun to drive with the clutch and gearbox working as they should in all respects. Oil pressure is perfect in all temperature ranges with 60 psi cold and 35 psi at hot idle. The engine temperature is always in normal range even on 100 F degree days. There are no water leaks. The suspension and brakes are good and the car stops straight and even. Tires and wheels are like new. All in all it is a great performing car. Recent work in the past year or so includes replacing the front stub axles with new CNC machined units in upgraded materials for strength and durability. The original stub axles are known as a weak spot on the TC’s and this is a great safety upgrade. The fuel tank was just removed and stripped, etched and epoxy coated inside. No leaks and now immune to the ethanol in today’s fuels. The carburetors have been rebuilt and the engine recently serviced. The TC also received a complete new wiring harness in our shop and except for the fuel sender everything is working correctly. We added hidden relays for the lighting circuits for safety. There are extra “D” lamps at the back for increased visibility and also a removable third brake lamp behind the spare tire which shines through the spokes. It is plug-in connected to remove for shows. The interior was redone at the restoration in a dark red with brown tones that looks wonderful with the dark green exterior. The seats are leather of course and seat belts have been installed. The leather has a lovely patina with some signs of use and a bit of wear on a short section of piping where you get in and out but no damage or splits. The top is tan Stayfast and it is like new and there is a new Stayfast tonneau that has never been installed. The side curtains are in tan Stayfast as well and are in good shape and stored behind the seat in their cubby. All instruments look great and work perfectly with the exception of the low fuel lamp. There is a marked wooden dipstick which is never wrong. The chrome is all very nice. All in all this a very well restored TC that has been done many years ago but has held up well and is in remarkable condition. It is a great driving TC and that is what most TC owners like to do. This TC will please the most discerning collector. We welcome your questions and can provide more photos. This car is advertised locally and internationally and we reserve the right to remove it from ebay. For European shipping we use Schumacher Cargo Logistics in Los Angeles. Thank you very much for your interest. Dave in Ventura, CA.
